Join us at the Global Climate Strike!
Friday, Sept. 20, 5:00pm
Greenfield Town Common
Area students and others will travel to Boston for a major climate rally, while supporters will hold events during the day, culminating in the
5:00pm rally on the Greenfield Common.
Bus to Boston!
Seats are still available, if reserved by Monday, Sept. 16, at

. There is no charge, but donations are welcome.
September 20, three days before the Global Climate summit meeting at the United Nations, will see thousands of strike actions and rallies around the world.
The demands: urgent government action to phase out fossil fuels and speedy transition to a sustainable, renewable energy powered future, with climate justice and equity at its core.
In Franklin County, the day will start with a send-off for the bus to Boston at
8:00am
in the Big Y parking lot.
Then from
11:00am-1:00pm
, students from the Center School will rally and speak out at the Greenfield Common, inviting all interested to join them.
From
1:00-4:00pm
, people are invited to join a “300 foot long roadside protest” along Route 2, at the Bittersweet Herb Farm, 635 Mohawk Trail.
The
Global Climate Action Rally
on the Greenfield Common, from
5:00-7:00pm
, will feature music and art, with groups highlighting different aspects of the climate crisis and how to take action.
The newly formed Franklin County Global Climate Action Network has already counted scores of supporting groups, including the League of Women Voters of Franklin County, Pioneer Valley Women’s March and the Wendell State Forest Alliance, along with the founding groups: Franklin County Continuing the Political Revolution, Greening Greenfield and the Traprock Center for Peace & Justice.

LWVFC Service Day: CT River Source to Sea Cleanup
Saturday, Sept. 28, 9:00am
The Source to Sea Cleanup is an annual trash cleanup of the Connecticut River system—rivers, streams, parks, boat launches, trails and more. Each fall, thousands of volunteers of all ages and abilities head out to places of their choice all along the four-state watershed (NH, VT, MA, CT) to clean the Connecticut River and its tributaries on foot or by boat. It's the LWVFC's third annual Civics Trivia Night, our biggest fundraiser of the year! This year, we're excited to announce that
GCC president Dr. Yves Salomon-Fernández
and
state Senator Jo Comerford
will be serving as our Quizmasters! Featuring fun new questions, categories, and challenges, same rousing good time! Offerings include cash prizes, complimentary snacks, and a gift basket raffle.
