Rutgers Hosts “Make-up” Commencement Ceremony in Shanghai: In November, Rutgers Global joined with the Rutgers Foundation to hold a make-up in-person graduation celebration in Shanghai for our Chinese students who graduated during the pandemic.

Meet Rutgers-Camden Study Abroad Student Sharellis Sepulveda: A senior in the Honors College, double majoring in criminal justice and global studies with minors in Spanish and sociology, Sepulveda is currently studying abroad in the United Kingdom for a semester after receiving a prestigious Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship for International Study.

Center for Islamic Life Chair Recognized for Building Bridges Between Jewish and Muslim Women: Atiya Aftab, chair of the Center for Islamic Life at Rutgers who helped launch an organization that brings together Muslim and Jewish women, isn’t giving up hope that there can be lasting peace in the Middle East.

Rutgers–Newark Alumna Coco Kim Found her Calling Feeding and Mentoring Others: When the Rutgers University–Newark class of 2012 was ordering caps and gowns for their graduation ceremony, Coco Kim was packing her bags to go to South Africa for two weeks with a church group to help women in small communities there develop their own businesses.

Driving Change for Good: Students from historically underserved populations who are studying STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) at Rutgers–Camden will benefit from a strategic $2.5M Driving Change grant from the Howard Hughes Medical Institute.

Cuban Dignitaries Visit Rutgers-Newark to Discuss Broadening Educational Exchange: Rutgers-Newark leaders and students met with dignitaries from Cuba to discuss expanding opportunities for cultural and intellectual exchange through travel.

Rutgers Global Grants Applications Due 12/9/23: Rutgers Global Grants seed grants are intended to initiate research or engagement that fosters international partnerships as well as new international educational initiatives. These grants are offered yearly to full-time Rutgers faculty from all campuses, including tenured, tenure-track, and clinical faculty.

Friendship Fridays: Chocolate & Coloring, December 1, 4:00-5:00 p.m., Collaborative Learning Center, Livingston Campus

Friendship Fridays are open to all Rutgers students, both domestic and international, from 4:00-5:00pm. Each week there will be a different theme where attendees can enjoy games, activities, and conversation - all while making new friends from around the world.

Spend the hour chatting with other students as you color away your stress and enjoy a variety of chocolate snacks!
