Dear Students,
Welcome to our last newsletter of the academic year. OGE celebrates another successful year. We approved over 1,100 students to study abroad for the 2024-25 academic year. This is the largest cohort of approved study abroad students ever at BC! As we head into the summer, I would like to congratulate all BC's prestigious award recipients from the past year and share a few brief notes: over 90 students were awarded Mcgillycuddy-Logue Travel and Research grants; 23 students were named Boston College Fung Scholars; 13 students were selected for the Benjamin Gilman Scholarship; 4 Critical Language Scholarship finalists and 2 alternates.
First, to our first-year students, please take some time over the summer to think about your study abroad plans for junior year. It may seem like a long way away, but OGE will start advising for study abroad again in September. The summer is a good time to review the information on the OGE website about studying abroad at BC and to be prepared for the start of advising in the fall.
Sophomores: You’ve made it through another year at BC, and you are halfway to completing your degree. For those who have decided to study abroad next year, the goal now is preparation. For our fall, full-year, and summer abroad students, all of us at OGE wish you the best of luck. Spring students: your semester will be here before you know it, and OGE remains available to help with your preparations.
Juniors: welcome back (well, again for our fall students)! The entire staff in the Office of Global Education hopes you have had a wonderful experience abroad. We look forward to hearing your stories throughout your senior year.
Finally, to our seniors: congratulations on your upcoming graduation! We are grateful to all of you who have worked with us for the past four years. We wish you the best of luck as you move on from Boston College into whatever next awaits you.
While the campus will slow down over the next few months, OGE staff will be available throughout the summer via email or phone call only, as Hovey House will be under renovation. If you have any questions or concerns, don't hesitate to contact us. We look forward to working with you in the fall. Enjoy the summer!
Please read on for more information about what is going on with the Office of Global Education!
