Study Abroad Publishes Cumulative Statistics
|
As part of a renewed focus on assessment and evaluation, Study Abroad recently published
cumulative statistics
about undergraduate student participation in Global Exchange, Global Seminars, Overseas Abroad Program (OAP), and UC Education Abroad Program (UCEAP) programs over the past six years. These data visualizations and tables show that the UK is consistently the most popular study abroad location, followed by Spain, Italy, South Korea, Japan, and France. Japan in particular has seen a dramatic spike in interest from students, moving from the eighth most popular to country for study abroad in 2014-2015 to the second most popular in 2018-2019. This interest in opportunities in Japan was another driving force in establishing the Global Exchange Program with Kyoto University this year.
Study Abroad enrollment has grown
17 percent since 2014, led by a 77 percent increase in Global Seminars and exploding popularity in summer programs
. The profile of students on these programs emphasizes our office’s goal of inclusive excellence in reflecting the diversity of the UC San Diego student body.
Members of the campus community can also explore study abroad participation by division, department, college, and major, including a
list of programs
chosen by students. These tools can assist departments in efforts to integrate high-impact programs into four-year graduation plans.
