Global Fund Raises Record Level of Support
At Its 7th Replenishment

Two of the Global Fund’s largest contributors, Italy and the United Kingdom, will pledge in the coming weeks to push the overall funding amount closer to the $18 billion goal.

Highlights: World Leaders and U.S. Government Officials Gather in NYC for UNGA 77

Forty-five countries-- including 18 heads of state, multilateral partners, private sector companies and civil society organizations-- gathered in New York City to save 20 million lives, avert 450 million new infections and prepare the world for the next pandemic.

Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield reaffirmed the United States' commitment to help get the world back on track to ending AIDS, TB and malaria as epidemics.
At an event sponsored by Friends' and Business Council for International Understanding, Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield met with President & CEO Chris Collins and Chief Policy Officer Mark P. Lagon in advance of the Global Fund's 7th replenishment.

2022 Global Fund Results Report:
50 Million Lives Saved
|
|
The Global Fund partnership has saved 50 million lives since 2002, according to the annual Results Report released on September 12th.
Thanks to the Global Fund's swift response to fight the COVID-19 pandemic, the world protected hard-won gains against HIV, tuberculosis (TB) and malaria with progress in key programmatic results across all three diseases.
HIV:
- 23.3 million people on antiretroviral therapy for HIV in 2021
- 12.5 million people were reached with HIV prevention services in 2021.
Tuberculosis:
- 5.3 million people were treated for tuberculosis in 2021; in addition, 110,000 people were treated for drug-resistant tuberculosis.
Malaria:
- 133 million mosquito nets were distributed in 2021.
- 148 million cases of malaria were treated in 2021.

The Global Fund's Reach in Fragile, Crisis Settings: Defeating AIDS, TB & Malaria

|
Friends' hosted a discussion on how the Global Fund is uniquely suited to reach the world’s most vulnerable communities in fragile, crisis settings.
Speakers included civil society leaders and policy-makers from Mali, Japan, Ukraine, Sri Lanka and France.

In a recently release report, the Multilateral Organisation Performance Assessment Network (MOPAN) assessed the performance of the Global Fund.
'The Global Fund’s flexible and evolving operational approach is continually reviewed and allows for a nimble response. This has been particularly important during the COVID-19 pandemic."
