Celebrate International Day of the Girl
The International Day of the Girl (IDG) – observed annually on October 11 – is a global platform to advocate for the full spectrum of girls' rights. To invest in a future that values and supports girls, giving them opportunities to lead and participate in decision-making is crucial. By placing them at the forefront of change efforts, listening to their voices, and responding to their requests, we can empower girls to exercise their agency and make a meaningful impact.
From October 2023 – October 2024, UNICEF and government and civil society partners collectively call for global stakeholders to center girls in the protection and promotion of rights; recognize, celebrate, and support girls' leadership; introduce and scale up programs that support adolescent girls' well-being; and make structural changes to scale up funding for girls.
