International Day of the Girl 2024

Celebrate International Day of the Girl

The International Day of the Girl (IDG) – observed annually on October 11 – is a global platform to advocate for the full spectrum of girls' rights. To invest in a future that values and supports girls, giving them opportunities to lead and participate in decision-making is crucial. By placing them at the forefront of change efforts, listening to their voices, and responding to their requests, we can empower girls to exercise their agency and make a meaningful impact.

This year's theme, Girls' Vision for the Future, reflects findings from UNICEF analysis, which shows that girls are not only courageous in the face of challenges, but hopeful for the future. Every day, they are taking action to realize a vision of a world in which all girls are protected, respected, and empowered. But girls cannot realize this vision alone. They need allies who listen to and respond to their needs.
