Global Aggies Blog: “Learning in London: Paola Simi’s Political Endeavors During Her Quarter Abroad”

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​UC Davis student Paola Simi studied at the London School of Economics, examining U.K. and European politics while living in London. She combined coursework, site visits and daily city life to deepen her academic focus and inform her plans for law school and policy research. Read her Global Aggies story.

Global Impact Fellows Program

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Global Impact Fellows Program is a one-year commitment to leading or supporting a student-led initiative that addresses a global+local issue. Students will develop project management, leadership and specialized technical skills in an environment that fosters real autonomy. Apply to the program. Deadline: May 1.


Foundations of Climate Justice & Internationalization Course

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​UC Davis graduate students are invited to join a cohort of international education professionals in an online course on the Foundations of Climate Justice & Internationalization. Participants complete asynchronous readings and meet as a group to reflect and explore practical applications. Sessions: April 21, May 5, May 19, June 2, June 16, and June 30, 10–11 a.m. Contact Chelsey Hawes for registration information. Deadline: April 16.

 

Summer Gender and Health Justice Fellows Program

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Gender and Health Justice Fellows Program through the UCGHI Center for Gender and Health Justice prepares students to address pressing public health challenges. Fellows participate in a Zoom orientation and complete four online short courses offered in July and August. Apply to the program. Deadline: April 30.

UC Davis Eivind G. Lange '77 and Mary G. Puma Graduate Fellowship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This fellowship supports graduate students conducting research in Chile in partnership with the UC Davis Chile Life Sciences Innovation Center. The fellowship award is limited to $4,000 and must be completed by December 31, 2026. Deadline: April 30.


Falling Walls Labs

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Falling Walls Lab is an international pitch competition for students, early-career researchers, entrepreneurs and innovators across disciplines. Participants present breakthrough ideas in three minutes, answering: Which wall will your research break? Winners will be invited to the Falling Walls Conference in Berlin in November. Apply to the program. Deadline: April 22.

 

Youth4Climate Solutions

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Youth4Climate’s Call for Solutions is a global innovation challenge for youth and youth-led organizations working on climate action projects. Participants can apply for funding to implement proposals at the local, national or regional level through Connect4Climate. Deadline: April 30.

 

Fulbright-Nehru Student Research Fellowships

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​These nine-month fellowships offer research opportunities in India for recent graduates (minimum bachelor’s degree required) and graduate students pursuing master’s or Ph.D. degrees. Campus Deadline: September 2026.

Global Grad & Postdoc Workshop: Designing Breathing Rooms—Storytelling as Pedagogical Practice

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​April 14, 4–5:30 p.m., International Center 3119. This workshop is part of the Global Grad & Postdoc Career Skills Series and Certificate. Participants will explore classroom activities that support reflection, agency and relational learning, and learn how storytelling can be used as a pedagogical method to enhance learning outcomes. Grad & Postdoc Workshop: Supporting Mental Wellness

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​April 15, 4–5:30 p.m., International Center 3119. This workshop is part of the Global Grad & Postdoc Career Skills Series and Certificate. Participants will explore contributors to acculturative stress for students in new academic and cultural environments and discuss strategies to prevent and manage its impact. Global Impact Fellows Info Session

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​April 21, 12:30–1:15 p.m., virtual. Join us to learn about the Global Impact Fellows program, a one-year opportunity to lead or support student-led projects addressing global and local issues. Learn how the program builds skills in project management, leadership and technical fields. Fellows are eligible for project funding. Register for the info session.

 

Grad & Postdoc Workshop: Intercultural Communication

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​April 21, 4–5:30 p.m., virtual. This workshop is part of the Global Grad & Postdoc Career Skills Series and Certificate. Participants will define culture, develop skills for intercultural learning and communication, analyze how culture shapes communication styles, and reflect on others’ communication norms and preferences. Careers in the Nordics: Meet Global Employers

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​April 24, 11 a.m.– 1 p.m., South Hall 114. Representatives from Volvo, IKEA, Statkraft and Innovation Norway will share insights on their work, global challenges and career opportunities. Intended for advanced degree candidates and postdoctoral scholars. Register for the info session on Handshake.


Peace Corps Info Session

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​April 28, 4:10–5 p.m., South Hall 114. Learn about opportunities to volunteer with the Peace Corps. Volunteers live and work alongside community members in nearly 60 countries, supporting locally prioritized projects in education, health, environment, agriculture, economic development and youth development. UC Davis SDG Symposium

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​April 30, 11 a.m.–3 p.m., International Center. The inaugural SDG Symposium addresses limited awareness of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) while building participants’ capacity to pursue actionable change in their current and future work. Global Grad & Postdoc Workshop: Making Yourself Memorable—Storytelling for Ph.D. and Postdoc Job Searches

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​May 5, 4–5:30 p.m., International Center 3119. This workshop is part of the Global Grad & Postdoc Career Skills Series and Certificate. Participants will use the Memorable Moment Method (MMM) to identify a meaningful experience and shape it into a clear narrative that conveys motivation, judgment and growth with specificity and confidence. Grad & Postdoc Workshop: Communicating with Compassion

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​May 7, 4–5:30 p.m., virtual. This workshop is part of the Global Grad & Postdoc Career Skills Series and Certificate. In this workshop, participants will define micro-aggressions, understand how they perpetuate stereotypes and discrimination, and identify strategies for addressing and reducing their impact.
