UC Davis Global Learning Photo Contest Voting Now Open

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Student finalists for the annual UC Davis Global Learning Photo Contest are here! Public voting is officially open and will close on Wednesday, January 7. This year’s categories—Places and People—feature incredible photos from Aggies around the world. Vote now for your favorites.

Global Leadership, Internships and Research


Humboldt Internship Program in Berlin

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This program offers research opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students. Students apply for a specific project in biology, chemistry, social sciences, cultural studies, physics, entrepreneurship and more. Requirements include a resume, cover letter and a letter of recommendation. Scholarships are available to cover the program fee. Apply now. Deadline: December 18.

 

Taiwan International Internship Program (TIIP) at Academia Sinica

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​TIIP is a pre-doctoral research training program for undergraduate and master’s students that prepares them to excel in their research journeys. Research projects are available on-site across a variety of STEM fields. A stipend is provided to help support living expenses and airfare costs. Application opens December 15. Deadline: January 15.

 

U.S. Teaching Assistantship Program (USTA) in Austria

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​USTA Fellows will receive a stipend and medical insurance to teach English beginning October 1, 2026, at secondary schools throughout Austria. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must hold a bachelor’s degree by the start of the program. Deadline: December 9.


Chateaubriand Fellowship Program

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Embassy of France invites Ph.D. students from U.S. institutions to conduct 4-9 months of research in France in STEM, Health, Humanities or Social Sciences. Fellowships include a stipend, airfare and health insurance. Deadline: January 25.


Alianza MX Postdoctoral Research Fellowships

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Alianza MX provides two-year fellowships for UC postdoctoral researchers working on binational projects. The program aims to advance the research activities and professional development of young scholars as well as expand collaborative ties between the UC and partners in Mexico. Funding awards cover postdoctoral researchers' salaries for up to 12 months. Deadline: March 2.

Competitions, Challenges and Funding


Vote for UC Davis Grad in the U21 Three Minute Thesis Competition

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Vote for UC Davis graduate student Yara Khatib in the People’s Choice category of the Universitas 21 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. Yara’s research and presentation, “The Road to Recovery—Psychedelic-like Drugs for Improving Mental Health,” showcases UC Davis’s research impact and global presence. Deadline: January 7.

 

UC Davis Global Grad Grants

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Graduate and professional students are invited to apply for funding to support globally focused research or a social impact internship in summer 2026. Grants cover the program fees for the associated tracks and provide a $2,000 award to support activities and travel. Application Dates: January 6–March 16. Blakemore Freeman Fellowships

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Applications are now open for this fellowship, which provides a stipend for one academic year (two semesters or three quarters) of advanced-level language study in East or Southeast Asia. By the start of the grant, applicants should have received a bachelor’s degree and have the equivalent of three years of language study. Deadline: December 30.

 

Siddall Sheffield Scholarship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The University of Sheffield’s Siddall Sheffield Scholarship offers full tuition and a £18,000 (approx. $23,000) stipend for a one-year Engineering master’s program. It is open to talented U.S. students across a range of disciplines—from aerospace to computer science. Apply now. Deadline: January 13.

Grad & Postdoc Workshop: Communicating with Compassion: Transforming Micro-aggressions into Global Understanding

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​January 28, 4–5:30 p.m., virtual. This workshop is offered as part of the Global Grad & Postdoc Career Skills Series and Certificate. Participants will define microaggressions, understand how they perpetuate stereotypes and discrimination, and identify strategies for addressing and reducing their impact. Combine this workshop with others in the Series to earn a certificate. Register now.
