New Global Aggies Blog: “Applying Global Learning to Queer Activism Research in Seoul”

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Through the UC Davis Global Grad Grants (Research Track), Cultural Studies Ph.D. candidate Sungwon Heo spent three months in Seoul conducting fieldwork on youth community engagement. By centering cultural humility and active listening, he deepened his research on the lived experiences behind public participation. The experience will directly inform his doctoral dissertation and future work in the field.

Global Impact Fellows Program

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Global Impact Fellows Program is a one-year commitment to leading or supporting a student-led initiative that addresses a global+local issue. Students will develop project management, leadership and specialized technical skills in an environment that fosters real autonomy. Info Session: March 11, 12:30–1:30 p.m. Apply now. UC Davis Global Grad & Postdoc Career Skills Series and Certificate

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This series is open to graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Participants may register for workshops emphasizing skill development in workplace inclusivity or intercultural teaching and learning to support success in intercultural work environments. Workshops may be combined toward a certificate from Global Affairs. Register now.


Aga Khan University Virtual Summer Internship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Gain professional experience, expand your global perspective, and develop cross-cultural skills through a structured 12-week virtual placement (15 hours per week) from June 8–August 28. The program fee is $800 USD and is open to undergraduates, master’s students and recent graduates. Apply now. Deadline: April 19.

Global Aggies Award for LGBTQIA+ Rights

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This award supports UC Davis students' global learning and engagement related to issues facing LGBTQIA+ communities and individuals around the world. Eligible activities include research or creative work, internships or externships, and other projects that advance the rights and/or well-being of LGBTQIA+ people globally. Award amount: up to $2,500. Apply now. Extended Deadline: March 20.


UC Davis Global Grad Grants

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Graduate and professional students are invited to apply for funding to support globally focused research or a social impact internship in summer 2026. Grants cover the program fees for the associated tracks and provide a $2,000 award to support activities and travel. Apply nowDeadline: March 16.

 

Peter and Marion London Global Learning Innovation Award

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Peter and Marion London Global Learning Innovation Award supports an annual project led by one or more UC Davis students who partner with Nepali and/or Tibetan students on a project with a strong public benefit related to sustainable development for disadvantaged communities. Award amount: up to $4,500. Apply now. Deadline: April 10.


UC Davis Eivind G. Lange '77 and Mary G. Puma Graduate Fellowship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This fellowship supports graduate students conducting research in Chile in partnership with the UC Davis Chile Life Sciences Innovation Center. The fellowship award is limited to $4,000 and must be completed by December 31, 2026. Deadline: April 30.


Grad Studies Travel Awards

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Applications for the spring 2025–26 Graduate Studies Travel Awards are now open. These awards support UC Davis graduate students who plan to present their research at conferences, workshops or symposia between January 1 and December 31, 2026. Apply nowDeadline: March 13.


APRU Global Health Virtual Case Competition

Teams of three to six students will receive a challenge related to a pressing global health issue and will have up to 12 weeks to propose a solution. The challenge will be announced on March 15. The winning team will be recognized at the 2026 APRU Global Health Conference and will receive a $1,000 prize. Teams must be registered by May 1.

The World's Toughest Job: Dialogue Series on the Next UN Secretary-General

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This is a four-part intergenerational dialogue series taking place in March and April. Each session explores a different dimension of the Secretary-General’s role, helping to demystify the position and highlight priorities that reflect the realities of a rapidly changing world. Global Grad & Postdoc Workshop: Global Inclusion and Engagement

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​March 12, 4–5:30 p.m., virtual. This workshop is offered as part of the Global Grad & Postdoc Career Skills Series and Certificate. In this workshop, participants will identify core inclusion concepts, definitions and their importance in job searching, the workplace and daily life. Global Grad & Postdoc Workshop: Designing Breathing Rooms—Storytelling as Pedagogical Practice

In this workshop, participants will examine and experiment with classroom activities that support reflection, agency and relational learning; learn about storytelling as a pedagogical method that focuses on learning outcomes.
