Global Aggies Blog: “Rooted in Rwanda: A First-Gen Heritage Student's Journey in One Health”

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​UC Davis student Kaylianne Jordan joined the Connect with Rwanda: One Health for a More Sustainable World program to explore the links between human, animal and environmental health. The experience deepened her understanding of sustainability and global collaboration, inspiring her to encourage other first-gen and African diaspora students to pursue global learning opportunities. U21 Sustainable Micro-Internships

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​These free, two-week virtual internships connect UC Davis students with peers worldwide to tackle real global challenges in areas such as decent work, quality education and climate action. Spaces filled on a first-completed basis. The next sessions run from November through February. Deadline: November 13.


CIEE's Scan Design Foundation Environmental Sustainability Internship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​May 19–July 12, 2026. This funded eight-week internship in Copenhagen places U.S. students with Danish companies focused on environmental sustainability. Interns will compare Danish and U.S. approaches to environmental sustainability through hands-on work and cultural exchange. Funding to cover program cost, airfare and a living stipend will be provided. Apply nowDeadline: November 21.


Technical University of Munich Practical Research Experience Program (TUM PREP)

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Together with TUM scientists, TUM PREP students work in small research teams on a research project. The program includes accommodation support, a €1,000 scholarship, orientation and framework program, and TUM buddies program. Deadline: November 23.


World Food Forum (WFF) Youth Policy Board

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Join the 2026-27 WFF Youth Policy Board, which provides a strategic youth-led vision to the policy-related activities carried out by the WFF Youth Initiative through the Youth Assembly. Applicants between the ages of 19-35 who can dedicate approximately 25 hours per month are eligible. Deadline: November 23.


DAAD Research Internships in Science and Engineering (RISE) Professional

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​RISE Professional offers funded summer research internships in Germany to masters and Ph.D. students in the fields of biology, chemistry, computer science, physics, earth science and engineering. Participants receive a scholarship and stipend to help cover living expenses. Deadline: November 30.


Global Research Program at Pontifica Universidad Católica de Chile

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Global Research Program offers on-site or virtual opportunities for students to collaborate with UC Chile researchers on interdisciplinary projects from 4-12 weeks, fostering global research and creative innovation across all academic fields. Open to undergraduate seniors or master’s students. Deadline: December 9.

 

Humboldt Internship Program in Berlin

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This program offers research opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students. Students apply for a specific project in biology, chemistry, social sciences, cultural studies, physics, entrepreneurship and more. Requirements include a resume, cover letter and a letter of recommendation. Scholarships are available to cover the program fee. Apply now. Deadline: December 18.


Chateaubriand Fellowship Program

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Embassy of France invites Ph.D. students from U.S. institutions to conduct 4-9 months of research in France in STEM, Health, Humanities or Social Sciences. Fellowships include a stipend, airfare and health insurance. Deadline: January 25.


Alianza MX Postdoctoral Research Fellowships

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Alianza MX provides two-year fellowships for UC postdoctoral researchers working on binational projects. The program aims to advance the research activities and professional development of young scholars as well as expand collaborative ties between the UC and partners in Mexico. Funding awards cover postdoctoral researchers' salary for up to 12 months. Deadline: March 2.

Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​CLS is a fully funded 8-10-week summer overseas language and cultural immersion program for American undergraduate and graduate students. Eligible languages: Arabic, Chinese, Hindi, Japanese, Korean, Persian, Portuguese, Russian and Swahili. Apply now. Deadline: November 18.


Lafayette Fellowship Program: One Year of Master’s Study in France

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Lafayette Fellowship, created by the French Embassy in the U.S., celebrates Franco-American friendship by offering one year of fully funded master’s study at leading French universities across eight cities. Alongside their academic coursework, fellows will participate in an immersive leadership development program and receive mentorship. Apply now. Info Session: November 21. Deadline: November 30.

 

Blakemore Freeman Fellowships

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Applications are now open for this fellowship, which provides a stipend for one academic year (two semesters or three quarters) of advanced-level language study in East or Southeast Asia. By the start of the grant, applicants should have received a bachelor’s degree and the equivalent of three years of language study. Deadline: December 30.

 

Siddall Sheffield Scholarship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The University of Sheffield’s Siddall Sheffield Scholarship offers full tuition and a £18,000 (approx. $23,000) stipend for a one-year engineering masters. Open to talented U.S. students across a range of disciplines—from aerospace to computer science. Apply now. Deadline: January 13.

Widening Circles: Global Social Impact Program Info Session

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​November 13, 11 a.m., virtual. Learn about this funded program offered in summer 2026, which pairs a social impact experience (internship, volunteer, or globally-focused research project) with an online curriculum focused on ethical global engagement, mentorship, and digital storytelling. Shields Library International Open House

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​November 19, 3–5 p.m., Shields Library. Celebrate International Education Week with an open house co-hosted by The UC Davis Library and Global Affairs. Find out how the library can support you, no matter where in the world you’re from. Research, Fellowship and Funding Opportunities in France
