UC Davis Global Learning Photo Contest Voting Now Open

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Student finalists for the annual UC Davis Global Learning Photo Contest are here! Public voting is officially open and will close on Wednesday, January 7. This year’s categories—Places and People—feature incredible photos from Aggies around the world. Vote now for your favorites.

Applications Open for 2026 UC Davis Study Abroad Programs

​​​​​​​​​​​​​Submit your application to reserve your spot in UC Davis Summer Abroad, Summer Abroad Internship, Virtual Summer Internship and Quarter Abroad programs. Programs fill on a first-completed, first-reserved basis. To start your application, visit your program’s webpage and click “Apply,” or log in to your Global Learning Profile.

 

Program Spotlight: Economic Development in South Africa (New)

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​In this intensive three-week program, you will explore Cape Town while examining real-world economic development challenges. Through classes, field visits and a hands-on project, you will engage with local experts and research key issues such as poverty, inequality, trade and urban development—building practical skills and global insight in one of Africa’s most dynamic cities.

University of California Education Abroad Program (UCEAP)

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​UCEAP programs provide UC credit and financial aid. Program options include immersion experiences, special-focus areas, language and culture studies, and internships. Applications for Summer 2026, Fall 2026, and Academic Year 2026–27 programs are now open. Explore available programs today.

Global Affairs Pal Program

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Pal Program pairs up UC Davis undergraduate students for intercultural conversation experiences. Participants can use weekly one-hour sessions to increase their intercultural awareness, practice a target language and develop friendships. Register for winter quarter. Deadline: January 20.

 

Global Affairs United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Internship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This internship provides UC Davis undergraduate students with an opportunity to actively contribute to campus engagement on the SDGs, gaining knowledge of organizational strategy, campus and external coordination and communications, and analytical skills to support this global agenda. Deadline: December 19.


Humboldt Internship Program in Berlin

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This program offers research opportunities to undergraduate and graduate students. Students apply for a specific project in biology, chemistry, social sciences, cultural studies, physics, entrepreneurship and more. Requirements include a resume, cover letter and a letter of recommendation. Scholarships are available to cover the program fee. Apply now. Deadline: December 18.

 

Taiwan International Internship Program (TIIP) at Academia Sinica

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​TIIP is a pre-doctoral research training program for undergraduate and master’s students that prepares them to excel in their research journeys. Research projects are available on-site across a variety of STEM fields. A stipend is provided to help support living expenses and airfare costs. Application opens December 15. Deadline: January 15.

 

U.S. Teaching Assistantship Program (USTA) in Austria

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​USTA Fellows will receive a stipend and medical insurance to teach English beginning October 1, 2026, at secondary schools throughout Austria. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and must hold a bachelor’s degree by the start of the program. Deadline: December 9.


UNIL’s Summer Undergraduate Research (SUR) Programme

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​UNIL’s SUR Programme offers third-year biology and medicine students an immersive eight-week research experience in Lausanne, Switzerland, combining lab work, academic seminars and cultural exchange to inspire future careers in science. Housing is provided, along with a living expenses scholarship and opportunities for travel reimbursement. Apply now. Deadline: December 31.

Vote for UC Davis Grad in the U21 Three Minute Thesis Competition

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Vote for UC Davis graduate student Yara Khatib in the People’s Choice category of the Universitas 21 Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition. Yara’s research and presentation, “The Road to Recovery—Psychedelic-like Drugs for Improving Mental Health,” showcases UC Davis’s research impact and global presence. Deadline: January 7.

 

Connect with Rwanda: Exploring One Health for a More Sustainable World

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Travel to Rwanda in June 2026 with a small cohort of students and a UC Davis faculty member to examine One Health issues related to sustainable development. Participants pay a reduced fee of $1,500, which includes a group round-trip flight. The program is open to undergraduates of all majors. Application Dates: January 6-February 5. Widening Circles: Global Social Impact Program

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​In this funded summer 2026 program, students explore ethical global engagement through online learning, mentorship, and reflection and pairing it with a social impact internship, volunteer opportunity, or globally-focused research project—locally or abroad. The program fee is covered and participants receive a $2,000 grant. Application Dates: January 6–March 16. Zoom Info Session: January 13, 12–1 p.m. Register here.

 

UC Davis Global Grad Grants

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Graduate and professional students are invited to apply for funding to support globally focused research or a social impact internship in summer 2026. Grants cover the program fees for the associated tracks and provide a $2,000 award to support activities and travel. Application Dates: January 6–March 16. EQUIP Undergraduate Fellowship: Winter Cohort Applications

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The EQUIP Undergraduate Fellowship helps UC Davis students build career clarity, leadership skills and confidence through hands-on innovation activities, interactive sessions and one-on-one coaching. Open to all majors, EQUIP supports students as they pursue internships, strengthen networks and prepare for impactful professional opportunities. Deadline: January 13.

 

Blakemore Freeman Fellowships

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Applications are now open for this fellowship, which provides a stipend for one academic year (two semesters or three quarters) of advanced-level language study in East or Southeast Asia. By the start of the grant, applicants should have received a bachelor’s degree and have the equivalent of three years of language study. Deadline: December 30.

 

Siddall Sheffield Scholarship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The University of Sheffield’s Siddall Sheffield Scholarship offers full tuition and a £18,000 (approx. $23,000) stipend for a one-year Engineering master’s program. It is open to talented U.S. students across a range of disciplines—from aerospace to computer science. Apply now. Deadline: January 13.

 

Boren Award

The Boren Award provides students with up to $25,000 to study abroad in Africa, Asia, Central and Eastern Europe, Latin America, and the Middle East, and incorporates intensive language study of less commonly taught languages (here is a list of preferred overseas locations). Deadline: January 28.

 

Medtronic Spark Scholarship

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​The Medtronic Spark Scholarship removes financial barriers for students pursuing degrees or credentials in health tech and related fields by providing financial assistance and access to support services. By opening doors to education, the scholarship empowers students to unlock their potential and shape the future of health. Apply now. Deadline: January 30.

 

Fulbright U.S. – U.K. Summer Institutes

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​This award provides full funding for three- to four-week summer programs at six locations in the United Kingdom. Each institute focuses on a specific topic. Applicants must be U.S. citizens, age 18 or older, have a GPA of 3.6 or higher and have two or more undergraduate years remaining after the program. Deadline: February 2.

 

Donald A. Strauss Scholarship

Scholarships of $15,000 are available to sophomore- and junior-level students of any citizenship status who have a desire to “make a difference” in local, national or international communities. Recipients implement a sustainable public service project anywhere in the world. Deadline: February 9.

Pal Program Winter Welcome Event

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​January 8, 2–4 p.m., Writing Center, 4th Floor, Teaching & Learning Complex. Come learn more about the Pal Program and connect with other students already participating. The Pal Program pairs undergraduate students for intercultural conversations, and this event will offer snacks, informal activities, and a friendly space to build community with your fellow Pal Program participants.


Writing a Successful Scholarship or Grant Essay for Programs this Summer

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​January 22, 12–1 p.m., virtual. Learn how to write competitive application essays for Connect with Rwanda: Exploring One Health for a More Sustainable World and Widening Circles: Global Social Impact Program. In this session, we will break down what selection committees look for, how to highlight your experiences and goals, and how to make your essay stand out. Register now.

 

Grants for Summer Internships, Volunteer Experience and Globally Focused Research

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​January 29, 11 a.m.–12 p.m., International Center 3130. Learn how to fund your unpaid summer internship, volunteer experience or globally focused research project. This session highlights grants available to undergraduates through the Career Center and Global Learning Hub, as well as resources for finding internships, research opportunities, and volunteer roles that align with your academic and career goals.
