Matthias and Laura, and their two children (Noah and Léna), planted The Tabernacle in the city of Nancy in 2015 with the support of the Antioch Network based in Dijon, France. The church started as a house church in their home before relocating to a larger space in Malzéville in 2017, which can accommodate around 40 people.
In 2022, the church established the Protestant Family Association called “L’OASIS” to carry out social actions and fulfill to The Tabernacle's vision in the city of Nancy: “Seek the peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried and pray to the Lord for it” (Jeremiah 29:7). The association distributes food and clothing to those people in need and provides support to families facing numerous difficulties. Additionally, it is collaborating with engineering schools on a project to develop a mobile health vehicle and food-truck. Regular visits to retirement homes are organized, and worship services will soon be held there at the residents’ request. The association has been well received in the neighborhood and supported by local authorities.
In March 2023, Laura and Matthias were recognized for their pastoral ministry. The church is experiencing growth and has recently established the worship association “The Protestant House - The Tabernacle in the city of Nancy”, with Matthias serving as the chairperson. New believer alpha classes have begun, and upcoming baptisms will be celebrated. Additionally, a couple from the church is actively engaged in prison chaplaincy, and new members have joined the pastoral team this year.
The Tabernacle collaborates with other evangelical churches in the region for times of united prayer, and to pray blessing over the city of Nancy and the surrounding area.
Laura and Matthias are truly grateful for what God is doing and thankful to the Antioch Network for their support and the exemplary faith they model each day.
This beautiful adventure with the Lord allows them to witness His power and love, which are manifested day after day. For “the steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end, they are new every morning."
