University of Global Health Equity
A newly established regional institution, the University of Global Health Equity in Rwanda inaugurated its opening with a major conference focusing on climate change, child health and global health equity. The conference included three keynote speakers, including Wondwossen Gebreyes, Ohio State GOHi executive director, whose keynote focused on the expanded role of veterinary medicine in addressing critical global priorities including pandemic preparedness, biodefense and biosecurity and the critical need of multi-disciplinary capacity building.

GOHi External Advisory Board member spotlight
Melanie Newport, MBBS, PhD, FRCP, is a professor of infectious disease and global health at Brighton and Sussex Medical School at the University of Sussex. There, she has led the strategic development of global health, establishing a research program which takes a multidisciplinary approach to tackle conditions that disproportionately affect vulnerable communities living in low-income countries.
