GOHi helps provide free health screenings for Columbus community

Shu-Hua Wang, director of GOHi Implementation Science and Research, along with other Central-Ohio Asian physicians, Ohio State medical, pharmacy, optometry, nursing, dental and social work students and community organizations volunteered at the Wat-Health Fair to provide health screenings and counseling. Each screening included blood pressure and BMI measures, vision and dental checks, breast and cervical cancer testing, a mental health assessment and blood testing for cholesterol, diabetes, tuberculosis and hepatitis.

Finding what drives the spread of a severe parasitic disease in Eastern Africa

Abhay Satoskar, professor of pathology in Ohio State’s College of Medicine and GOHi Faculty Advisory Committee member, recently received a grant with co-principal investigator Damaris Matoke-Muhia, principal research scientist at the Kenya Medical Research Institute. This $2.2 million grant will help operate the Tropical Medicine Research Center, which will focus on understanding multiple factors contributing to the persistence of leishmaniasis in Kenya, Ethiopia and Sudan.

GOHi hosts LMG workshop for Ethiopian higher education leaders

The Leadership, Management, and Governance (LMG) program in Ethiopian Higher Education aims to enhance the capacity of Ethiopian public higher education leaders. As an LMG program implementing partner, GOHi helped organize a two-day training workshop in Addis Ababa to bring together university presidents, vice presidents and senior leaders from the Ethiopian Ministry of Education.

Applications open for the Takemi Program in International Health

The Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health is currently accepting applications for the 2022-2023 Takemi Program in International Health. Fellows in this program will learn how to enhance their capacity for research and leadership through the weekly Takemi Seminar Series and building connections with faculty members. Applications close December 31.
