There is much grief and outrage in Canada today—much relating to matters of race, residential schools, and reconciliation, with an extra layer of COVID stress exacerbating tensions.
Genesis 1 says God created human beings in his image. Some cultures have said that their monarch or emperor alone is the divine image, but in the Judea-Christian tradition, all human beings are created to image the divine presence. We need to remember this is all our teaching, writing, and leading: every human being is a reflection of the king.
This is both a gift and call—a statement of every human's dignity and mission. We must act as vice-regents—stewards of the king. Its a high calling fraught with both suffering and ineptitude, and it makes the indignities that accompany Christianity’s moral failures the greater travesty. Yet we stand firm, leaning into this high calling, knowing God’s gracious Spirit will lead us—through repentance to renewed efforts for the gospel and God’s glory.

We enjoyed our time gathering stories, reflections, and photos of the gifted scholars, faithful supporters, diligent executive directors, and dedicated board members who helped grow GSC into the enduring mission it has today.
