GlobalMindED Welcomes the Honorable Dr. Kimberly McClain as Chief Operating Officer Effective Today
Black History Month is a time to honor the achievements, contributions, and resilience of Black individuals who have shaped history, fostered progress, and paved the way for future generations. It is a celebration of innovation, leadership, and the relentless pursuit of equity across all sectors of society.
In this spirit, GlobalMindED’s announcement of Dr. Kimberly A. McClain as Chief Operating Officer takes on special significance as we honor African American leaders this month. We are deeply honored to have her join our team.
Dr. McClain brings a wealth of experience in banking and financial services, government affairs, international policy, and national security with a proven track record of leadership in both the public and private sectors.
Dr. McClain is an executive with a distinguished career serving in various high-level positions across the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), and U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Most recently, she served as the Assistant Secretary for Congressional and Intergovernmental Relations at HUD, where she was the principal advisor on legislative affairs and played a key role in developing and advocating for HUD’s legislative initiatives.
Her deep expertise in national security, policy development, and international relations will be instrumental in driving GlobalMindED’s mission to support educational innovation, foster diversity, and provide strategic solutions to global challenges. With her leadership, GlobalMindED is poised to strengthen its operational strategies, expand its impact, and build new collaborations with governmental and private-sector partners worldwide.
Dr. McClain holds a Ph.D. in International Business from Northcentral University, M.S in Human Relations and International Business from Amberton University, and a B.A. in Psychology from the University of Texas and has extensive training in strategic leadership and defense policy from renowned institutions such as the Air Force War College and National Defense University.
“I am honored to join GlobalMindED at such a pivotal time in its growth,” said Dr. McClain. “I look forward to working with the talented team and leaders to advance our mission of creating educational opportunities and empowering global leaders for tomorrow’s challenges.”
Dr. McClain’s first initiative will be joining GlobalMindED’s partner, Biennial of the Americas, on their leader trip to Mexico City Feb 5-7 with ten GlobalMindED students from USC, University of Denver, and CSU Pueblo. They will join other partners who are El Pomar Fellows, Boettcher Scholars, CU Denver students, and leaders from across Denver and the Americas who are setting global standards in media, the arts and innovation. Dr. McClain met GlobalMindED at the Biennial’s Mayor’s Summit of the Americas several years ago. We have FloraJane DiRienzo and Jamie VanLeeuwen to thank for our match that led to our work together!
Join us throughout February as we share inspiring stories of the incredible Black leaders who are part of the GlobalMindED community. Together, we celebrate their achievements and recognize their contributions to building a more equitable and inclusive future for all.
