The podcast Go With Elmo launches a special month of episodes featuring guests nominated for 2025’s Grammy awards. The month kicks off today with an intimate interview with Walter Afanasieff, the writer and producer of Mariah Carey’s holiday staple “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and Celine Dion’s award-winning hit “My Heart Will Go On.” Afanasieff is nominated this year in the Best Song Written for Visual Media for the song “Love Will Survive” from the film The Tattooist of Auschwitz. In the interview, Afanasieff reveals how they decided to scrap the live band recording of “All I Want For Christmas Is You” and instead ended up releasing the demo version that Afanasieff made entirely with synthesized instruments.

Afanasieff is the first of seven Grammy-nominated artists that are set to be guests on Go With Elmo which is hosted by Jammcard CEO and Founder Elmo Lovano. Other guests set for the month include Jacob Collier (Album of the Year), Zedd (Electronic Album of the Year), legendary funkmaster George Clinton (Audiobook of the Year), Alissia (Producer Of The Year) and Lalah Hathaway (R&B Album of the Year).

Go With Elmo has been around for a couple of years, but started in earnest in August of 2024. Guests have included Jimmy Jam who explained how Prince was not only one of the most talented artists he’s worked with but also the hardest working. Session drummer JR Robinson explained the near impossible task Quincy Jones asked him that helped create the iconic drum fill that starts Michael Jackson’s “Rock With You;” and James Fauntleroy related the details on co-writing Justin Timberlake’s hit song “Suit and Tie” with Justin.

Go With Elmo is available on all platforms and was created by its host Elmo Lovano. As the head of Jammcard he’s created a community of 10,000 musicians worldwide that has helped assemble session players for tours and recording sessions for the likes of Gwen Stefani, Harry Styles, The Chainsmokers, Zedd, and Maren Morris and many others.
