Goats Help Benicia Refinery With Wildfire Safety

Have you noticed our hoofed friends tending to the vegetation on Valero’s open land? While some find them cute, the shepherd, dog, and 750 goats with "Goats R Us" working around the Benicia Refinery serve an important safety purpose. They worked to clear the area of vegetation, helping to reduce wildfire risk. While humans are still required to clear the areas closest to the refinery with tractors, the goats are able to cover most of the firebreak area, helping to keep the community safer.

Valero Hosts United Way Chili Cook-Off

The Valero Benicia Refinery hosted a Chili Cook-Off that kicked off the annual United Way Employee Giving Campaign.

Valero is proud to support United Way in its efforts to provide immediate and long-term support for employment, housing, financial stability, and meeting basic needs.

Valero Donates to Carquinez Village

Valero Benicia Refinery made a recent donation to Carquinez Village in honor of Judie Donaldson being named Solano County’s Senior Citizen of the year. She received this honor in recognition of her work through Carquinez Village.

Carquinez Village is an active and caring part of our larger community. It has developed a portfolio of supportive services including stimulating social and educational programs. Its primary mission is in making a difference in the lives of its members and actively participating in growing our community.

Valero Donates 202 Backpacks to Local Communities

Valero Benicia Refinery’s Volunteer Council is proud to have completed its 14th annual backpack drive.

Valero volunteers were able to provide a total of 202 backpacks for Kindergartners through 12th graders in Solano and Contra Costa counties. These backpacks were donated to Opportunity House, Benicia Homeless Action Council, SCOE Homeless Youth Services, Bay Area Crisis Nursery, and Shelter INC.

Upcoming Benicia Dog Festival – October 17th

Valero is one of the main sponsors of the upcoming Benicia Dog Festival on Sunday, October 17th. This festival is a fundraiser for the rescue and care of animals affected by natural disasters in our region. With wildfire seasons becoming worse each year, these organizations’ work is becoming more important than ever before.
