We Missed this View (and You)
Another Bacon Fest is in the books ... another whirlwind weekend of wall to wall people and sooo much food. It was lots of fun but we are looking forward to returning to the serenity of the riverfront (tomorrow promises sunshine and temps in the sixties) and all our favorite farmers. There's still some lovely fall color lingering on the trees along the river, and our vendors are gearing up for Thanksgiving. Come peruse our beautiful produce and plan your 'fresh & local' holiday dinner. Order your turkey and pies and stock up for the week ahead. We can't wait to see you!

It may be November (how is it already November?!) but we still have a great line up of fresh produce to fill your plate and your belly! And after all that bacon last week, dare I suggest it's time for some veggies to balance it all out! I love recipes that double as side dishes or main dishes because they're able to easily please vegetarians and meat eaters alike. For instance, this recipe for Butternut Squash Risotto with Leeks has enough substance to make it a suitable main meal for a vegetarian and plenty of flavor to pair next to grilled chicken or steak for those who like a serving of meat with their meal. If you enjoy spinach, throw a few extra handfuls of chopped spinach in too!

The full line-up: red leaf head lettuce, lettuce mix, romaine head lettuce, arugula, kale (green curly, tuscan), Swiss chard, collard greens, scallions, carrots, dill, parsley, cilantro, green bell peppers, beets, radishes, butternut squash, pak choy, Hakurei turnips, fennel, broccoli raab, dandelion greens, spinach, green cabbage, Napa cabbage and celery
Phillips Farms
Getting a head start on planning your Thanksgiving Day menu? Don’t forget the Brussels Sprouts! Brussels Sprout keep for several weeks in the refrigerator and Phillips will have plenty of them at this week’s market as well as in the coming weeks.
The fall harvest means plenty of produce at Phillips Farms. This week’s offerings include: over 15 varieties of apples; broccoli, cauliflower, spinach, lettuce, kale, Swiss chard, leeks, fennel, winter squash, radishes, beets, carrots, cabbage, onions, potatoes, garlic, fresh herbs and more.  And don’t forget Apple Cider and fragrant Eucalyptus bunches.
Cabbage Throw Farm
It might be the last week of beefsteak tomatoes but fall bounty continues to roll in as the weather changes, and soup season is here! Cabbage Throw Farm's veggie pick of the week is purple kohlrabi. Crisp and sweet when eaten fresh but also delicious roasted or blended together with potatoes and herbs for a creamy soup.
Other produce finds this week include baby salad greens, Napa cabbage, collard greens, kale, rainbow chard, purple top and Hakurei turnips, fennel, red radish, specialty daikon & watermelon radish, beets, carrots, broccolini, bok choy, tatsoi, microgreens, yellow onions, garlic, winter squash, herbs and Comeback Farm's organic potatoes & sweet potatoes.
Scholl Orchards
Scholl Orchards welcomes the lovely Pink Lady to the apple party this week. This sweet-tart apple has high sugars and high acids with a crisp bite and effervescent finish. It tends to fall more towards the tart side than sweet but is oh so refreshing! It has a beautiful, bright white flesh that is slow to brown making it a wonderful apple to entertain with. The Pink Lady apple is extremely versatile and can be used for baking, snacking, salads, pairing, or for sauce.
the Pink Lady. Scholl's apple selection now stands at fifteen. If you'd rather drink your apples, Scholl's will have plenty of fresh pressed cider. Did you know they've been pressing their own cider twice weekly since 1948?!

Romanesco, Broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, and Brussels Spouts are all delightful this time of year - not to mentioned packed with anti oxidants. And whatever your squash preference Scholl's has you covered. Chose from red kuri, delicata, butternut, honey nut, acorn, carnival, kobocha, spaghetti and butterkin.
Mattie's Strudel Haus
Mattie's is ready to bring on the turkey! This weekend they'll be featuring their Fall famous 'Gobble Strudel!' It's basically Thanksgiving in a strudel - homemade stuffing and mashed potatoes, slow-roasted turkey, gravy, corn, and a side of homemade cranberry sauce! Be sure to get to the Mattie's tent early because these will sell out fast! Gobble Gobble...
Roastwell Coffee Roasters
Of course Roastwell will be at the market with their delicious coffee drinks and fresh-roasted-for-market beans but with ONE BIG DIFFERENCE. They'll be doing it from their brand new and super spiffy mobile coffee bar. Chris and Jamie have been burning the midnight oil to further elevate your coffee experience at EFM.
Come check out the transformation! And they just might be bringing their Bacon Fest hit beverage, Bacon Maple Bourbon Cold Brew
Because life's too short to drink bad coffee!
Pie + Tart
Yay! Back to the market, back to the riverside! We will bring lots of Apple Turnovers, new Pecan Pie Pop Tarts (!!), Chicken Curry Dinner Pies, Savory Hand Pies, and a selection of frozen pies to keep for emergency pie needs; it’s so important to be prepared! And speaking of getting prepared, here’s a photo of the first of the pie shells for (gasp!) THANKSGIVING.
Zekraft
Zekraft will be offering seven different salads including Thai Peanut Chicken, Southwestern Salmon, Chicken Bleu and Smoked Gouda. Saturday's soup du jour include Carrot Ginger and Chicken Rice. And for dessert... Vegan Almond Milk Panna Cotta with Scholl’s apples, Carrot Cake and a delish Boston Cream Pie.

Zekraft will be resuming their home meal delivery service with a new menu being released on Monday November 21st. Check out all that they have to offer at https://www.zekraft.com/
