3rd Sunday of Pridetide

Sermon Title: "You Are a Chosen People"

Sacred Text: 1 Peter 2:4-10

Worship (in-person and online) at 11:15 AM

A Word from Rev. Renae
On Sunday we will look at the scripture in 1 Peter that describes who we are: a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God. Too many in our community do not know they are God’s chosen, and we have many opportunities this weekend to let people know that God thinks they are Fabulous!

Join us for the Pride Parade on Saturday, worship on Sunday and the Pride Carnival on Sunday where King of Peace will staff a booth. We have an opportunity to reach the masses with God’s love!

Blessings,
Rev. Renae
We are inviting you to wear all your favorite pride shirts and colors this Sunday. Let's show our pride in who God created us all to be! If you bought one of the King of Peace Pride Shirts, you might consider wearing that!
Updated Safety Protocols for In-person Worship
***We understand that the Covid numbers in Pinellas County are creeping back up to a high level. If you are much more comfortable wearing a mask, please do so. We will have masks available in the back. We continue to look at all the information available, and we will revisit our protocols as needed!***

Masks are optional for all those fully-vaccinated. If you have not been fully-vaccinated, we ask that you please continue to wear your mask.

In terms of physical contact, please be sensitive and respect everyone's personal wishes.

If you don't feel well, we ask you to please stay home. This includes fever, cough, and shortness of breath.
Upcoming Activities
Just a reminder that there will not be Hospitality this coming Sunday, June 26th. In honor of Pastor Bob's last Sunday, Lakewood United Methodist Church will be using the Fellowship Hall. If you need a place to get out of the sun, please gather in Jeremiah's office.
It is St. Petersburg Pride Weekend!!! The largest LGBTQ+ Pride Celebration in the state of Florida.

Parade on Saturday, 6/25

Suggested parking is in the parking lot at St. Petersburg High School located at 2501 5th Ave North. There will be a free shuttle running from 11am-11:45pm. Other options are Sundial and Southcore Parking Garages and Tropicana Field has $20 parking.
If you are signed up to ride in the truck, we will be lined up in our designated space #430 at the North Shore Parking Lot. Our arrival time is between 2:00–2:15pm.

If you are signed up to walk in the parade, you need to be in Vinoy Park no later than 3:30pm. Walkers can gather as early as 1:00 pm. Our row is F-4. Rev. Lorraine is going to check-in for us and will meet you at the designated space#430 that coincides with our truck space. You will need a badge to be a walker and she will give you your badge. As the truck goes by Vinoy Park you will file in and we will all proceed together.

Since there will be quite a wait to join the parade we suggest you bring a collapsible camp chair to sit in while you wait. When you join the truck you may store your chair in the back of the truck. We will have water, some snacks, sunscreen and bug spray. Please feel free to bring what you need. It will be a long day in the heat.
We will have a speaker and music that will play from the truck. There will be a couple of breaks in the parade to allow traffic to enter and exit the Pier. We are encouraged to dance, sing, and have fun with the crowd during the breaks.

We have about 28 people signed up to participate. Let’s go share some Jesus with St. Pete!!

Street Carnival on Sunday, 6/26

If you signed up to work the King of Peace booth at the street carnival, our booth is number 2718. (We are guessing that it might be near The Garage.) You'll need to park wherever you can find street parking on 1st Ave. N or 1st Ave. S or any of those side streets and walk over to Central Ave, where the festivities are happening (Grand Central District).

If you did not sign up to work the booth, we still hope you will come by and say hello! Bring all your friends that may not come to church already. We'll have a spinning wheel and lots of prizes to give away!

We are very excited for this outreach opportunity to our community. As our shirts say, "God thinks you're fabulous!" This is a going to be a great weekend of getting out the Good News!

Join our Lay Delegates, Bob Pope and Cathy Campbell-Heroux, and our Alternate Lay Delegate, Penny Weston, after worship on Sunday, July 10th for our General Conference Forum. As the King of Peace representatives, they want to hear your feedback on the items that will be voted on at the Business Meeting on July 15-16. This is where you can give your voice to all those matters including Governing Board candidates, By-law amendments, or anything else that will require a vote. Please stick around and hear what our Lay Delegates have to say, and share your opinions!
Mark your calendars now, and join us on Saturday, July 23rd from 9 am-Noon for our 3rd installment of "Discovering God's Direction". Over the last two sessions, we have looked at our past and our present. We've looked at our Core Values and our Mission and Vision Statements. Now we are looking ahead and who God is calling us to be. If you want to help prepare for our next Settled Pastor, this work is where we begin. To RSVP, sign up in the foyer or email melanie@churchstpetersburg.org. A light breakfast will be provided.
Do you know of anyone within our congregation who might need some congregational care or for us to offer their name in prayer during Sunday service? If so, please email revlorraine@churchstpetersburg.org.
Do you like to dance? Lakewood UMC has a Pop/Hip Hop Line Dance Class called "Sensational Seniors" on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:10-11:10 am in the Fellowship Hall. Your 1st class is free and $8 for all other classes. If you have more questions, call Natasha Walker at 727.564.7485.
Help Raise Funds for Efforts in Ukraine
MCC's Global Justice Institute is collecting money for much needed support for those in Ukraine. After much consideration, they have chosen to partner with two individuals working with efforts on the ground that they were able to verify. One has to do with technology. Night vision drones are needed to find safe times for fleeing and to get supplies to those hiding. The second is to care for those who are wounded and need medical access or emergency care. They are putting together backpacks with supplies to save up to 10 lives. If you are able to donate to their efforts, click here. The Global Institute raises funds through MCC of New York. Just click "Ukraine Support" on the drop down box.
