God Sends Helpers
Preschoolers are reading about Deborah, a woman who was a judge and prophet in ancient Israel. Kindergarten is starting our advent series looking at Isaiah's prophesy of a child, Immanuel, God with Us, who will come. God sends people into our lives when they are needed. When Israel needed a leader, Deborah came; when the world needed a savior, Immanuel was born.

Angels Among Us
When life held troubled times
And had me down on my knees
There's always been someone
To come along and comfort me

A kind word from a stranger
To lend a helping hand
A phone call from a friend
Just to say I understand

Now ain't it kind of funny
At the dark end of the road
Someone lights the way with just a single ray of hope.

Oh, I believe there are Angels Among Us,
Sent down to us from somewhere up above.
They come to you and me in our darkest hours
To show us how to live
To teach us how to give
To guide us with a light of love.

Have you had "angels" in your life? Have you been an "angel" to someone else?

We'll be talking about angels in church this next month. Luke tells us in 2:9-10 "An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, 'Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people.'"

From these two verses we know: angels show the glory of God, they bid us not to fear, they bring joy. We can look forward to the angels in our lives and be thankful for them.
