"God Stories"

April 2018 - Kosovo MCF

ACCTS' mission is to help in the development of military Christian leaders, and in the establishment of military Christian Fellowships (MCFs).  To that end, our staff sponsors events in this country for international military Christians, and participates in events around the world that help achieve our vision that one day, everyone in uniform will have heard the Gospel from someone wearing the same uniform. This God Story is from the report of a staff member who recently attended such a conference overseas.

Every year the leaders of the military Christian fellowships in Europe come together in Lubbecke, Germany to pray together, encourage one another, and seek God's will for their plans in the coming year.  This gathering has grown over the years, and in February there were military Christians from 21 nations in attendance.

On the other side of the world, the Missionary Support Organization (MSO) in South Korea hosts a Military Evangelism Observation (MEO) event in June each year.  MEO focuses on providing military Christians from countries without an MCF the necessary ministry tools to start a fellowship. A young man from Kosovo attended the 2016 event and returned home convicted by the Holy Spirit that he should start an MCF, even though 90% of the population in Kosovo is Muslim.  Undaunted by the difficulty of finding military Christians in such a culture, the young man persevered, and eventually locat ed enough other believers to form an MCF last year.

At the Lubbecke Conference  in 2018, the Kosovo MCF was formally welcomed into the worldwide Association of Military Christian Fellowships (AMCF).  At the ceremony, the young man shared his testimony:  When he accepted Christ at age 13, his Muslim father told him,  "You are wrong. This is bad for you, and you will be nothing.  Now no one will ever know you."   Despite this harsh rebuke from his earthly father, the new Christian persevered in following his Heavenly Father as he matured, and with encouragement from other international believers at MEO and back home, he achieved his goal.  After he shared his story with the Lubbecke group, one of the participants told him,  "Now you can go home and tell your father that military Christians from 20 nations know and admire you."

Later in the meeting, preliminary plans were laid for a regional AMCF Adriatic Conference that will include the nascent Kosovo MCF.  Such conferences provide opportunities for ministry training, sharing best practices, fellowship, and most of all prayer. Pray that the Kosovo MCF will flourish and grow into spiritual maturity, serving as a beacon of Christ's light to their countrymen as they share His love with their comrades-in-arms.

- Jehovah Jireh, our God who provides, thank you for superintending and blessing the establishment of an MCF in Kosovo.  We beseech you to guard and guide this group of saints as they serve you in a largely Muslim country.
-  Father God, you know the plans you have for the MCF in Kosovo, and in your word you tell us that they are plans for good and not for evil, to give them hope and a future.  We claim this promise for them, knowing that you will provide more than we can hope for or even imagine.
- Lord of all, we bless your name for the marvelous way in which you use the principal organizations supporting the AMCF - ACCTS, MMI (UK) and MSO - to accomplish your wonderful works across the globe.  Thank you for your grace and mercy to men and women in uniform in over 150 nations with an MCF.
