"God Stories"

August 2019 - Mongolia

Six ACCTS Staff members and volunteers traveled to Mongolia in April to provide American English Language Training at the Mongolian Ministry of Defense (MOD). Teaching English to a broad spectrum of Mongolia's Armed Forces Headquarter (proved to be a unique opportunity.  The President of the Centurions, the Mongolian Military Christian Fellowship (MCF) observed, "Your committed, sacrificial time here had a wonderfully big influence in soldier's hearts and leader's lives. Thank you so much for your great partnership."
ACCTS' executive director shared:"The MOD's goal in these English classes was for their personnel to learn enough English to talk with English-speaking troops from other nations; the MCF's goal was to be a blessing to military personnel through this training; and ACCTS' goal was to support the MCF's work and ministry. The six of us taught varying levels of English classes for officers and enlisted personnel, and we individualized the lessons, depending on who participated."
English classes were held during the day, while the evenings afforded opportunities to speak at multiple Centurion events. The first evening's activity was an Easter outreach to cadets. An ACCTS staff member who shared his testimony at this meeting noted, "After I spoke, each cadet leader took a group of 3-4 cadets to hold private discussions on faith. Of the 19 non-believing cadets, 12 came to Christ that evening!"
Later in the week, another staff member spoke at a police force couples seminar, and the presentation was "well-received and impactful." Others shared at a senior officer's meeting, a cadet outreach meeting, and a weekly NCO outreach meeting. The NCO meeting is a new Centurion ministry with committed leaders who have a great heart for sharing the Gospel with Mongolia's soldiers.

During a separate senior officer's meeting at which an ACCTS volunteer spoke, one couple shared their vision for starting ministries at the police and defense university academies. This aligns well with the Centurion vision to open a cadet hospitality house in the same location.

ACCTS' director also addressed an outreach meeting, and reported, "I spoke to the cadets about the most embarrassing moment in my life, using that moment to remind them to keep their eyes on the finish line so that they pursue the goals they should pursue."This trip paid many dividends, and opened doors for future ministry opportunities," he concluded: "Mongolia is an extremely large nation in terms of land mass, and so the MCF has a lot of ground to cover. But they've developed a credible and thriving ministry and we're happy to work with them as they share Christ in this primarily Buddhist nation."
Pray that God will use the fruits of this training to His glory.
