Every six months, ACCTS staff are asked to report on their ministry activity for the semi-annual period. Their responses are collected and collated for the ACCTS board so that they can perform their duties of assuring that the organization is achieving the purpose, mission and vision stated below:
ACCTS Purpose
“To glorify God by: assisting in the development of Christian leaders in the armed forces of the world; assisting in the establishment and growth of military Christian fellowships (MCFs) in the armed forces of the world; and participating, in a spirit of cooperation, with other organizations seeking to minister to the armed forces of the world.
ACCTS Mission
“To assist in the development of Christian leaders in the armed forces of the world and in the establishment and growth of military Christian fellowships.”
ACCTS Vision
“Everyone in the uniformed services of the world will hear the Gospel from someone wearing that same uniform.”
Here are some excerpts from the most recent staff reports:
One ACCTS’ staff couple recently moved to the Gulf Coast of Mississiooi where they have launched a collaborative mentorship ministry with Officers Christian Fellowship, Christian Military Fellowship, and the chaplains of the Naval Construction Battalion Command. With over 11,000 US military and International military students in the area, the fields are ripe for harvest.
Another couple are preparing for an international chaplain training to be held in texas in September. COVID has complicated the process of obtaining visas for US travel so they have been forced to start the process of invitations and applications nearly a year in advance. Thus far, 11 candidates from 9 nations are expected to attend.
Other ACCTS staff are planning the annual Fellowship of Christian Military Ministries (FCMM) conference in late March for which we are co-hosts with Christian Military Fellowship. This year’s theme is “Enlarging our ministry territory through cooperation and collaboration.” (1 Ch. 4:10) through better communication, cooperation, coordination, and collaboration.
Our Ethics Ministry continues to disciple military members, including two interns from Uganda who leaders in their military Christian fellowship (MCF). They have developed inductive Bible studies focusing on ethics with Christ the ultimate exemplar, and discipled cadets from the Coast Guard and Merchant Marine Academies at the National Prayer Breakfast. They will also present at the upcoming FCMM and hold an Ethics Workshop following the conference.
Our Latin America staff and others are helping the Brazil MCF plan and organize the World Conference of the Association of Military Christian Fellowships (AMCF) scheduled for October 2024. This decennial event brings together military Christians from around the globe for prayer, fellowship, and discipleship.
Other staff have worked to update the AMCF Handbook and translate it into Russian and Spanish to make it a useful reference for MCFS across the world.
With the end of COVID, our Asian and Eastern European staff have been able to resume travel to those regions to offer encouragement and discipleship after a two-year hiatus.
Pray for all these endeavors, that the Lord would continue to bless and prosper military Christians around the world, and that ACCTS might continue to be used by God to achieve His purposes.
