MARCH 2025

spring-word-flowers.jpg

Spring is a reminder that God loves to make things new. What is God stirring up inside of you right now as we get ready to enter a new season? Here are a few things that are happening at the Greater Hayward House of Hope.

Thank you for being a supporter and for reading about what’s happening at the House of Hope.

Delightfully Sober

House of Hope graduate, Dan Lester, is an example of a man who has broken the cycle of addiction and has been living a sober life, free from drugs and alcohol since December 29, 2023.

Dan entered the House of Hope residential program a year ago this March, and upon graduating, he took the position of Overnight Supervisor. He lives in the resident house, participates in daily devotions and is very helpful. Mike Murphy, lead mentor, says, “Dan is a humble servant. He helps with anything the guys need. From building things to cooking and cleaning.”

Dan has grown in his staff role and has also taken on the duties of the trade skills workshop supervisor, which involves overseeing projects, teaching residents how to build things, use tools safely and produce products for orders, festivals and fundraisers.

Dan is living in the resident house, participates in daily devotions and is back-up for Mike Murphy from time-to-time.

In Dan’s spare time, he is actively committed to his physical and spiritual health. He also enjoys fishing and thrives on and having supportive people around him.

Congratulations Dan!

OUR FIRST FRATERNITY LUNCHEON

“Launching the House of Hope Fraternity is a much needed support system for our graduates,” said Gary Nathan, HOH Chairman. “It is an extension of our commitment to help these men achieve a sober and God-honoring life. To God be the glory!”

On Sunday, March 16, we achieved a new milestone at the Greater Hayward House of Hope, one that demonstrates the powerful testimony of what God is doing in our community. A group of House of Hope participants, alumni, mentors, board members and supporters gathered to share lunch and fellowship at the Spider Lake Church.

The Fraternity supports our participants, provides accountability, builds deeper friendships and broadens the support network.

If you would like to sponsor a fraternity luncheon, please contact Jackie Clifford at 715-296-9138.

COMMUNITY PROJECTS

Daily devotional and training in good practices in overcoming addictions is the House of Hope priority. These things are the core of the program and are focused on daily. In addition, there are times the residents are available to give back to support the Hayward community.

Here are some examples of community projects the residents have engaged in:

- Lawn care property maintenance for Timber Bay Ministries

- Assemble a gazebo for the Hayward Humane Society

- Cook meals for the Spider Lake church youth group & community dinner

- Volunteer at the Northwoods Community Food Pantry

- Assist nearby elderly residents in moving & yard work

- Share participation with the Trunk or Treat event

- Donate items built in the shop to various organizations for their fundraisers

- Help load or unload local trucks for ministries such as Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas

Please contact the HOH at 715-699-1124; if you have a project that meets the criteria, we may be able to help.
