Pastor's Update

Hi Parkway People --

As of the writing of this email, we are one week out from Christmas Eve! Amidst all the plans, travel, details, and traditions that go into making this season special, I hope your joy has not been lost to the busyness.

It's easy to let happen.

Remember that this is the season in which we wait and watch for God to be fully and truly among us - not only in larger than life experiences, but in the quieter rhythms of the day. It's an idea that's been at the heart of Parkway's 2024 Advent series: Quiet Revolution - that despite the ways we hope for God to act in powerful, noticeable ways, God has often sparked change in quiet ways and in out-of-the-way places.

We'll continue on in the Advent series Quiet Revolution for one more Sunday, December 22nd at 9am and 10.30am.

Children (birth - 5th grade) and Students (6th - 12th grade) will have their Christmas parties during Sunday School this Sunday!

If you have questions, please reach out to Becky (rbetz@parkwayumc.org) for children or Josiah (jcanto@parkwayumc.org) for students.

On Tuesday, December 24th, we'll celebrate Christmas Eve with services at 5pm, 7pm, and 11pm, all in the Worship Center.

The 5pm service is designed for families with young children and will include any children that want to in the telling of the Christmas story. It will still include Christmas Eve traditions like carols, candlelight, and Communion.

The 7pm and 11pm services will be more traditional Christmas Eve services that will also include carols, candlelight and Communion.

On a side note - If you are planning to attend the 5pm or 11pm service and are willing to help serve Communion, please respond to this email and let me know!

After Christmas Eve, the Parkway office will be closed from December 25th through January 2nd.

Parkway will not go totally quiet after Christmas. Students will leave for Christmas U.M. Army to spend part of their break serving families in need in the College Station area.

There are still spots available for students to sign up for UM Army. Click HERE to learn more information or register today! If you have a student that would like to attend, but the cost is too great, Parkway has funds to help make sure no student misses out on this opportunity due to the cost. Please reach out to Josiah or reply to this email and let us know if we can help make this happen for your student.

More details about leaving and transportation will be sent out the week leading up to UM Army.

I'm looking forward to celebrating Christmas with all of you and getting ready to start a new year, with new opportunities and possibilities for the Parkway community!

Justin
