SHOE DRIVE UPDATE

Just because we are currently on lock down , doesn't mean that we aren't still collecting shoes; we are! We still have our goal of 2,500 pairs to reach by the end of April.

If you have gathered some shoes, we can make arrangements for them to be dropped off at church. In this difficult time, we still need to remember others, who are less fortunate than ourselves; the ones who have no shoes & are not able to go to the grocery store at all, to buy any kind of food or supplies.

Thanks to every single person who is helping to help others in developing countries all over the world.

Please continue to share our Facebook posts & encourage your family, friends, neighbors, work colleagues, schools, podiatrists, chiropractors, neighborhood community centers, dance schools etc. to get involved with us.
Through our work with funds2orgs.com, your shoes will help many people around the world, in developing countries AND help God's Acre raise some much needed funds, at the same time.

Psalm 23

Good Morning,  I was so glad that we could eventually bring the service to you, online; the Internet was so overloaded & it was very slow to upload,so we decided create our own YouTube page & use that to upload the service; we will use this technology moving forward .

It's amazing how we are able to adapt in new situations. I am glad it worked and we are now fully functional, for our services moving forward; what a relief that we can use technology to stay connected; these things are set to try us, as the old saying goes.

I am also giving a written version for those whom we mail out our newsletter to, as not everyone has email or internet; we have to cover all bases to keep our folks in the loop.

There will always be times in our life, when we have needed help; and never more so than in our current situation. Just because we are not sitting together in church, doesn't mean we are not still a church. We are still church; we are just moving into a different way of doing things & keeping everyone connected by Zoom, Skype, Facebook, Email, Whatsapp, Viber & even Snail Mail; these are all apps, & technological ways, to help keep us all linked together, locally & globally.

I know that we will all get great comfort from this beloved Psalm; it has an overarching power & every word hits your heart and soul. When we recite this Psalm out loud we become absorbed in the words. The Psalm becomes alive and real;  the Psalm is the green pasture; the Psalm is the still water; i t is precious to us, it  soothes our wounded souls. The simple beauty restores our souls & the souls of many across the world.

If you randomly ask people which Bible verse they know, they will very often say Psalm 23!  I don't think this is because it's short, I truly believe it hits even the hardest heart and penetrates into a person's psyche. It has a message & that message is clear; it is essential for our daily life.

I have always found the Psalms to be very helpful and always a blessing to read. There is a Psalm for every eventuality; there are 150 in all, between the Hebrew and the Greek. Psalms are so poetic; they have a rhythm and a balance, which is pleasing; there is power in their words.

To use the psalms as a prayer, is a wonderful way to start and end each day. The  23rd Psalm is what we call a 'trust Psalm'; it is often spoken in the midst of dire crisis. When we are all at sea and in troubled waters, t he Psalms are full of powerful imagery; they are a  reflection of our lives. However, within the Psalms we also see the trust we should place in God's presence and deliverance.

T he Lord IS my shepherd, I SHALL NOT want, He leads me beside still waters, He restores my soul; He leads me in right paths for his name's sake. You prepare a table before me. My cup overflows.

In this Psalm we assume a divine promise; we trust in God & it evokes the promise:  "I fear no evil, for you are with me." Sometimes we have to be reminded to believe in God; sometimes we need to be reminded that God is still with us. Jesus has promised, "I am with you always, to the end of the age" (Matthew 28:20).

When we find ourselves weak, in the dark, u ncertain of the future; w hen all the color has drained out of life, when our soul is downcast, just l ook up. Fix your eyes upon Jesus, Our Good Shepherd. Stick close to Him.  Trust that He knows the way through this valley and will see us safely through.

Even though we are placed in this difficult & unfamiliar situation, if we hold fast, if we're humble, kind and help one another, this too will soon pass. We  will overcome and arrive safely on the other side. Thanks be to God,  Amen.

In Christ
