It is with regret that, Rev. Janice & the board have taken the very difficult decision to cancel worship services through to the end of March 2020, at least.

Rev. Janice & the board will liaise & monitor the Coronavirus situation daily, as it develops across Florida and the world.

Please be assured that this is a SAFETY MEASURE ONLY; service WILL RESUME again, as soon as possible and it is safe to do so, following guidelines from the Center for Disease Control & Prevention and the World Health Organization.

We have already implemented some precautions by cancelling potluck, for the foreseeable future and, we will be doing things slightly differently, once services resume.

We WILL REOPEN as soon as possible; in the meantime, we will continue to send out the newsletter every Monday morning, as usual, along with any important updates. Please also keep checking our Facebook page for daily updates, prayers and check-ins. Please make sure you not only 'Like' our page, but that you are also 'following' our page to receive the updates into your feed.

We would ask you please to keep Rev. Janice, the board & all of our members in your prayers in the coming weeks; we would also ask you to continue to financially support God's Acre MCC; we still have bills to pay & we need to ensure our doors can reopen as soon as possible. Information on how you can send your gift is available in the side bar.

Please check-in with Rev. Janice via text, email and/or Facebook; if you need prayer or just want to chat, Rev. Janice is always available to you.

SHOE DRIVE  UPDATE
So, we had Elvis helping us out this week! Our super hero shoe collector - Gwen - was in Memphis this week & stopped off to pick up some more shoes for our drive; she tells us that Elvis made her do it! She's even picking some more shoes up in Arkansas on her way home. Gwen - you win the prize (to date) for going above & beyond!

Camille is nipping at your heels though, as she has taken delivery of shoes from NY & the Carolina's this week; we'll bring you an updated total as soon as we can.
For now though, we have bagged  1,525  p airs of shoes, boots, cleats, pumps, trainers, kid's shoes & sandals! AND w e will have plenty more to be bagged once Gwen gets back from her travels and our services resume & more shoes arrive from everyone else.

In the meantime though, we still need more shoes; we HAVE to reach at least 2,500 pairs by the end of April please.

After our interim collection last week, of 56 bags, we received a check for $517.20 for our fundraising pot. That really helps us out, especially now.

Thanks to every single person who is helping to help others in developing countries all over the world.

Please continue to share our Facebook posts & encourage your family, friends, neighbors, work colleagues, schools, podiatrists, chiropractors, neighborhood community centers, dance schools etc. to get involved with us.
Through our work with funds2orgs.com, your shoes will help many people around the world, in developing countries AND help God's Acre raise some much needed funds, at the same time.

Romans 5:1-11

In times of crisis and need, of fear and uncertainty, we need to lean into our faith even more. Our scripture yesterday told us how our faith in God works.

The first line tells us that  we are justified by faith; we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ;  now that is a profound statement.  We have found peace. M oreover, we have access to Grace through Jesus Christ; we will also  share that Glory of God. That's it - an  epic statement.

Before Jesus, we had no real access to God without sacrifice;  no sacrifice could ever be big enough to wipe our sins away. Yet, Jesus took our sins upon Himself and felt the weight of all our sins;  can you image how that felt? Jesus was feeling the wrath of God for us.

We are told that, through Jesus, we are given peace; Jesus uses this term often: ' Peace I give to you.' W e pass the peace each week, at the end of the service.  Peace is a powerful word and it gives us freedom, rest and love in our hearts. It's a small word with a BIG meaning.

We are told that we should rejoice in our suffering. How can we rejoice in our suffering? We all have some level of suffering; unfortunately though, I believe we have more to come. However, when we suffer, it makes us stronger; we evaluate - did we fall at the first fence and give up? Or .... did we achieve a state of perseverance when we knew we were learning?

Verse 5 clearly tells us that endurance produces character, and character produces HOPE. Hope is what we need to carry on. Without Hope we are lost. Hope never disappoints us. Hope is poured out to us from God, through the Holy Spirit. This happened through Jesus Christ; before that, we were hopeless.

What love God had for us, to give us Jesus to suffer for our sins; Jesus set us FREE - there is that word again: FREEDOM. We are washed clean by the blood of Christ. Again and again, we are reconciled with God through Jesus' actions.

I was talking about this last week; it's a long walk to victory; we may stumble but, as we look to Jesus for our recovery, we will never be shunned; we don't learn overnight, it's a constant walk with Jesus.

As I said earlier, when we stumble and fall, we learn the most. When we are in the valley, we learn the best lessons. Don't be downhearted, but trust in the power of Jesus and the Grace of God. We don't deserve Grace yet we are given Grace; we receive Grace through our faith in Jesus. We walk with Jesus and we keep walking. We are justified through our faith; believing and trusting is the key that gives us peace.

It's Jesus who brings that PEACE. Jesus Christ the anointed one, gives us HOPE. Christ has given us new birth, so that we can live in hope - seeing beyond the mundane, seeing beyond the present time, to a bright future. We may be burdened for a while, but with HOPE we will always get though.

As we walk together towards Good Friday and the crucifixion, we can bring our fears, troubles and issues and lay them down at the foot of the cross, both physically and metaphorically. This is a cathartic thing to do.

Lay our burdens down and pick up PEACE, HOPE and FREEDOM. I would say that is a good exchange. Trust in God's everlasting love; in the trusting comes the GRACE, given not earned. Let's all walk forward this Lent in a burden free walk with GOD.

In Christ

Lockdown

Yes there is fear. Yes there is isolation. Yes there is panic buying.
Yes there is sickness. Yes there is even death. But,
They say that in Wuhan after so many years of noise
You can hear the birds again.
They say that after just a few weeks of quiet
The sky is no longer thick with fumes
But blue and grey and clear.
They say that in the streets of Assisi
People are singing to each other
across the empty squares,
keeping their windows open
so that those who are alone
may hear the sounds of family around them.
They say that a hotel in the West of Ireland
Is offering free meals and delivery to the housebound.
Today a young woman I know
is busy spreading fliers with her number
Through the neighborhood
So that the elders may have someone to call on.
Today Churches, Synagogues, Mosques and Temples
are preparing to welcome
and shelter the homeless, the sick, the weary
All over the world people are slowing down and reflecting
All over the world people are looking at their neighbors  in a new way
All over the world people are waking up to a new reality
To how big we really are.
To how little control we really have.
To what really matters.
To Love.
So we pray and we remember that
Yes there is fear.
But there does not have to be hate.
Yes there is isolation.
But there does not have to be loneliness.
Yes there is panic buying.
But there does not have to be meanness.
Yes there is sickness.
But there does not have to be disease of the soul
Yes there is even death.
But there can always be a rebirth of love.
Wake to the choices you make as to how to live now.
Today, breathe.
Listen, behind the factory noises of your panic
The birds are singing again
The sky is clearing,
Spring is coming,
And we are always encompassed by Love.
Open the windows of your soul
And though you may not be able
to touch across the empty square,
Sing.
