See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! (1 John 3:1)

Before the age of smartphones, e-mails, and texting, children used to handwrite notes to their friends in school. One day a girl was absent, and the boy who wanted her attention wrote her a note and sent it home by her older sister.

In the note, the boy told the girl how much he loved her. He said he missed her from school, and he wanted to go to her house that evening to see her. He said he would climb the highest mountain and swim the deepest sea to be in her company. He said he would fight a fierce lion and a grizzly bear to be with her.

He signed the note "With all my love." Then he wrote a P.S. that said, "I'll see you later this evening if it doesn't rain." In other words, the boy's promise had become conditional.

God's love is unconditional. There is nothing we can do to cause God to love us more. There is nothing we can do to make God love us less. He loves us no matter what. He loves us even if it rains.
