God's WORD for TODAY

September 26, 2024

Matthew 24:6–7 (NKJV)

6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. 7 For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places.

The words Jesus spoke over two thousand years ago could easily describe today's events. They were uttered when His disciples questioned Him about the timing of establishing His new Kingdom.

Our LORD listed several catastrophic signs that must take place, but they were similar to a pregnant woman’s birth pain indicating that a child will soon be born. Jesus then warned the disciples that they would also go through a time of persecution for His name’s sake.

Currently, we are experiencing the “birth pains” identified in this passage. And Christian persecution is on the rise worldwide. But we can take heart because Jesus said these are signs of His Second Coming.
