Hope Harbor’s Voyage of Miracles

Times of reflection show how the vision of Hope Harbor began, as well as seeing God’s miraculous provisions along the way. Take a moment and revisit the timeline of wonders that has taken place as Hope is birthed in Lincoln County, New Mexico.
Hope Harbor’s 501(c)(3) was secured June 2013, however the vision to assist survivors of domestic violence began more than a year earlier. Lincoln County residents began to develop a passion to deliver faith-filled, life-building futures for women and their children affected by domestic abuse.
Models of successful faith-filled transitional homes were sought, and an excellent source was found in Midland, Texas. As Hope Harbor began the journey from vision to reality, Mr. John Cornelius caught the vision and offered to donate his Contractor expertise in Hope Harbor’s creation. Sites were considered across Lincoln County.
Christ Community Church located in Capitan made the decision to close its doors near the end of 2016 due to change of community involvement. The Board of Directors at Christ Community Church voted to donate their property and facilities to Hope Harbor January 2017. After required documentation of transfer was achieved, Contractor Cornelius began to secure permits and architectural plans. Groundbreaking took place May 2019 at the site.
Hope Harbor’s voyage has journeyed to a number of community events to provide awareness and anticipation. In addition to local newspaper coverage (a few front page “above the fold” articles) and radio coverage, Hope Harbor has participated in local 4th of July and Festival of Lights parades, raised awareness at quite a few civic organizations, gratefully accepted generous donations and hosted signature events.
Quite a few volunteer organizations, church groups, and supporters have participated in the continuing effort for Hope Harbor to open its doors and offer a new life for women and their children deeply affected by domestic violence. Even during the pandemic, God has proven faithful to the mission of Hope Harbor. Scores of persons have touched the ministry of Hope Harbor and the community has faithfully showed its support.
While each day’s construction efforts are increasing as we near completion, one thing is firm: Hope Harbor’s ongoing mission is steady and anchored. God’s faithfulness remains our foundation and its success is inevitable.

The miracle of Hope Harbor WILL change lives for good and forever.
Thank you Tom Darrah of Capitan Service Electric for working as the electric contractor. We are grateful for you.
Thank you Sierra Contracting for providing the roll-offs for our construction project. You are a huge blessing.
Thank you Capitan Police Chief Randy Spears and the police department for your support and protection.
We continue having amazing community support for this mission to help women with children that need hope and help.
