Collecting All Caps and Old Toothbrushes!
PGS National Youth Council Jr Officer Justin is on a mission to collect 200 pounds of plastic.

All of the caps will be melted down into a buddy bench that will be placed in his Los Angeles community.

Justin’s wants to empower and educate others about how making a small change in their life, like recycling or changing the type of toothbrush they use, can have a positive impact on the planet. To learn more about:

K-12 Water Conservation Curriculum for Schools with UgMo Technologies and PGS

PGS Director of Student Engagement Publishes a New Book!

Our North Atlantic right whale is on the brink of extinction. People across the country are taking action to help save this iconic and majestic species. Local author Angela Kakabeeke has written a children’s book to engage young people and their parents in actions to help protect the right whale.   Whale Alert! (the book has an exclamation point in title)  takes kids on an exciting adventure out at sea. They will learn about the tools marine biologists use as they search for ways to help ocean animals. 
 
Angela’s book tour is supported by Women Working for Oceans a non-profit organization with a mission to promote healthy and sustainable oceans through education that inspires advocacy and action. Please visit  womenworkingforoceans.org  to get involved and learn more.  Learn more about Angela.
Call for Applications for the President’s Environmental Youth Award

The application period is now open for the 2018 President's Environmental Youth Award (PEYA) program. The PEYA program recognizes outstanding environmental stewardship projects by K-12 youth, promoting awareness of our nation's natural resources and encouraging positive community involvement. Winners of this year’s awards will be invited to a ceremony in Washington, D.C. in mid-2019, and have their project highlighted on EPA’s website. EPA will select up to two winners in each of EPA’s 10 Regions – one regional winner for Grades K-5 and one regional winner for Grades 6-12. Applications are due February 1, 2019 . Learn More

PGS Welcome's Two New Partnerships
Greening Forward is hosting a Green Media Contest, where they ask students to create articles or artwork that highlight important environmental issues. Winners of the contest have their work featured by Greening Forward and receive several prizes such as cash and eco-shirts. Events
Starting in January, Grades of Green is launching our four-month Waste Campaign for 6th-12th grade students to engage eco-heroes across the globe to take action to reduce waste and develop sustainable, student-led solutions to waste issues relevant to their region. 

Winning Campaign Teams, announced in April, will also receive up to $1,000 in Eco-Grant prizes to fund their innovative solutions.  Deadline January 11, 2019

Registration is currently open and early bird rates end January 25 th .
