Greetings

This week we're presenting Art Complex Museum, ArtsWorcester, and Bannister Gallery at Rhode Island College.

Sometimes the simplest way to understand how a creative sees the world is to take in their work. This week's exhibitions highlight three artists in solo shows across New England. These shows give a glimpse into the undeniably unique ways these three artists translate their own viewpoints into visual art.

Nancy Hayes: Thought Translated into Form at Art Complex Museum

in Duxbury, Massachusetts, from November 10 to February 9, 2025

Art Complex Museum presents Nancy Hayes: Thought Translated into Form which showcases the work of South Coast Massachusetts-based artist Nancy Hayes as she endeavors to capture "how her brain organizes space, pattern, color, and form," according to a curatorial statement. According to Hayes, painting allows her to be "as honest as possible as a visual artist" and her simultaneously geometric and fluidly organic work in bold, bright acrylics speaks "to the building blocks of matter as well as a spiritual presence that leaves us wondering." The museum is open Wednesday to Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. Art Complex Museum is located at 189 Alden Street, Duxbury, MA. For more information, please visit here.

Ricardo Barros: An Entanglement of Time and Space at ArtsWorcester

in Worcester, Massachusetts, from November 14 to December 17

ArtsWorcester presents Ricardo Barros: An Entanglement of Time and Space, a show that "unfolds space and distorts time" through the work of photographer, writer, curator, and filmmaker Ricardo Barros. Through 360-degree panoramic photos that are carefully composed and stitched together, Barros is able to "depict an event in its entirety, flattened and visible all at once," providing a view impossible to see with the naked eye. The museum is open from Thursday to Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. ArtsWorcester is located at 44 Portland Street, Worcester MA. For more information, please visit here.

Richard Whitten: Objects of Wonder at Bannister Gallery

in Providence, Rhode Island through December 6

Bannister Gallery presents Richard Whitten: Objects of Wonder, a show in which painter Richard Whitten invites viewers to glimpse into a world of fantastic spaces, imaginative machinery and to feel as if their hand and then their whole existence could pass through the painting into a world on the other side," according to the artist. Many of the objects and spaces Whitten represents in his work are inspired by Renaissance architecture and the inventions of Leonardo da Vinci. The gallery is open Monday to Friday from 12 to 8 p.m. Bannister Gallery at Rhode Island College is located in Roberts Hall at 600 Mount Pleasant Avenue, Providence, RI. For more information, please visit here.
