Troy Becker has been named Activities Director for Cedar Falls Schools, he replaces Gary Koenen who is retiring at the end of the school year. Becker has been with the school district since 1994, most recently as Associate Principal/Assistant Activities Director since 2007. Along with many committees and leadership roles in the District, Becker has been head coach for men's cross country and women's track and field. He guided the men's cross country program to two State Championships, six top three state team finishes, six MVC Divisional Conference Championships, six MVC Super meet titles and six District championships. In 2016, he was named a finalist, one of eight in the country, for the National High School Athletic Coaches Association coach of the year finalist.
"I'm very excited to have been chosen for this position as it has been my biggest professional goal. Cedar Falls is a special place and I look forward to doing anything I can to help all of our students find success and involvement in our many programs," said Becker.
Becker is also the Sturgis Falls Half Marathon & 5K Runs Race Director, which has raised over $20,000 for the Cedar Falls Booster Club.
Prior to working for the district, Becker was Health Promotions Director with the YWCA of Black Hawk County and worked for Waterloo Schools and Webster City Schools.
Becker received his bachelors, and two masters degrees, one in physical education and one in secondary administration, from UNI.

Reminder for parents of students of 7th and 12th grade students next school year: when scheduling your medical provider visits keep in mind that the Meningococcal Vaccine, specifically A/C/Y/W-135 vaccine, is REQUIRED for all incoming students entering 7th and 12th grades for the 2018-2019 school year. Students must have the vaccine prior to the first day of school to attend and will not be permitted to attend until the vaccine is received. Incoming 7th graders have an additional requirement of a Tetanus, Diphtheria, and Pertussis (DTaP) vaccine booster. Contact your student's health office if you have questions.
Parents plan to stop by the Health Office to pick up your students unused medications at the end of the school year. This pertains to prescription and over-the-counter medications. Our goal is to avoid destroying expensive medications that you have provided for your student. New medications and medication doses to be administered at school require a signed parent permission form. Please stop by the Health Office to complete the form. For the safety of all students medications should not be carried by your student or stored in their locker. We are here to help, if you have questions please contact us to learn more.
