Over the last year, the Honorary Membership Team welcomed the following new members to our sisterhood:

Corinthia Cromwell
Mayor Carol Evans
Arianna Vanderpool-Wallace
Carmelita Jeter

The team has developed some strategies and resources to assist the membership in identifying high caliber women who can build the profile of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. We have recently inducted women in entertainment, politics and sports. Our opportunity is much greater as we have many sorors who have the influence, the leadership and the positioning to attract many more women to this program.

The Honorary Membership Committee, led by Soror Deborah Brown, has a robust recommendation process to assist you, as members, to bridge notable members to the sisterhood. Please email to receive more information.

Let's vote! Let's encourage others to head to the polls as well. Our voice matters!

The U.S. Constitution's 15th Amendment ratified by the states in 1870: Section 1. The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. The constitution was then amended three additional times regarding voting - 19th, 24th and 26th Amendments. The 19th Amendment granted American women the right to vote. The 24th Amendment prohibited both congress and the states from conditioning the right to vote in federal elections on payment of a poll tax or other types of taxes. The 26th Amendment prohibited the federal government and states from using age as a reason for denying citizens the right to vote. (Ratified 7-01-1971, previous requirement is that you had to be over 21 years of age to vote.)

This is written to give you the evolution of our voting rights and why it is so important to exercise it. Progression has happened and we must not allow disappointments in our local, state or federal elections allow us to regress. Allow your voice to be heard! Help others to speak as well! We ask that you register people, help them update their voting information or assist them in checking their status. Sigma Gamma Rho stands tall and proud in getting out the vote. Help others to stand with us.
