Golden Eagle Fest to offer on-site admission this year

The Office of Admissions and Recruitment is hosting Golden Eagle Fest on Saturday, Nov. 5, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. A unique feature this year is the opportunity for freshman and transfer students to complete their applications early and receive their admission decision on-site during the event. Prospective students and their families can also meet with faculty, advisors, and current students.  Campus and housing tours will be offered, as well as application and financial aid workshops.

We Are LA campaign celebration set for Oct. 22

The University will celebrate the success of We Are LA: The Campaign for Cal State LA and the donors who made it possible on Saturday, Oct. 22. The reception begins at 11 a.m. followed by brunch and a program at 12 p.m. in Greenlee Plaza on campus. The event will feature performances by singer/songwriter Jessica Fichot, La Santa Cecilia’s La Marisoul, and the Luckman Jazz Ensemble. Please register online by Oct. 17. Conference shares strategies to advance equity in the CSU

The third annual CSU Student Success Network Conference will be held virtually on Oct. 12-14, 2022, with a pre-conference convening on Oct. 11. The conference will bring together faculty, staff, administrators, and students from across the CSU to share strategies to advance equitable student learning and success. This year’s conference theme is “Sustaining Momentum for Equity and Change in the CSU.” Please register to attend this free virtual conference by Oct. 10.

Benefits open enrollment period now open until Oct. 14

The annual Open Enrollment period for CalPERS health, dental, vision, Flex Cash, Dependent Care Reimbursement (DCRA), Health Care Reimbursement (HCRA), or voluntary benefits plans is now open through Oct. 14. Eligible employees may enroll, change plans, and add eligible family members during this time. The effective date for all updates is Jan. 1, 2023. Information about benefits is available on the CalPERS website.

Luckman Gallery features an exhibit by artist Casper Brindle

The Luckman Gallery at Cal State LA is hosting an exhibition, Casper Brindle: Hypermodality. Brindle’s paintings are explorations of the expressive possibilities of color, light, and form. His palette ranges from spectacularly technicolor to subtly monochromatic, but ever present is the notion of center. This exhibit will be on display until Nov. 19. The gallery hours are Wednesday through Saturday, from noon to 5 p.m. A timed ticket is required for admission. The artist’s reception will take place Saturday, Oct. 8, at 5 p.m.

Cal State LA to serve as Vote Center next month

Cal State LA has been selected by the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk to serve as a Vote Center in California’s November General Election. The Cal State LA Vote Center will be open to the campus and surrounding communities from Saturday, Nov. 5, through Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 8. At the Vote Center, individuals will be able to cast their ballot in person, drop off their vote-by-mail ballot, or register to vote in person if they miss the regular voter registration deadline on Oct. 24. The center will be located in room 4049 of the University Library, Palmer Wing, on the fourth floor.

Microsoft security change may impact access to Cal State LA email

A recent Microsoft security change may disrupt some users’ access to Cal State LA email on mobile devices or personal PCs. On Oct. 1, Microsoft began to disable the current basic authentication login method used by some native mail applications to improve email security. For those who access Cal State LA emails using the native email application on their mobile phones, please reset the Cal State LA Exchange Account on Apple devices or reset the Cal State LA Exchange Account on Android phones. For those who access Cal State LA emails using the Windows Mail application in Microsoft Office 2015 and older on your personal PC, please download Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus and use Outlook to access Cal State LA emails. Great California ShakeOut to take place on Oct. 20

Be prepared to drop, cover, and hold on at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 20, during the Great California ShakeOut Earthquake Drill. Faculty and staff members who are on campus should evacuate to your designated assembly area when the alarm sounds.
