Make a Splash & Make a Difference
Every child in America should know how to swim. That’s why we’ve engaged with Make a Splash Local Partners in all 50 states and each U.S. territory to provide low-or-no cost swimming lessons. This year, we’ve already awarded more than $700,000 for families in need, and next year we plan to grant even more.

The 2019 Grant Applications for Make a Splash Local Partners are now open. You can help support swim lessons in your community and across the country by donating your time or your dollars .
Champions and the Donors that Support Them
To compete on an international level, most elite swimmers are required to train full-time, allowing them little-to-no time for traditional employment. In 2018 the USA Swimming Foundation provided $780,000 to support National Team athletes and coaches, and $120,000 to support sport development.
Additional funding is imperative to stay atop the world’s podiums. National Team Athlete Endowments allows supporters of the USA Swimming Foundation the unique opportunity to connect with a National Team athlete. Read More...

Rowdy Gaines Receives the USA Swimming Foundation's Make a Splash Hero Award
USA Swimming Foundation Ambassador and three-time Olympic gold medalist, Rowdy Gaines is a true hero in his efforts to raise awareness of the lifesaving skill of learn-to-swim. His passion toward educating parents and families to put their children into swim lessons is immeasurable. You may know him by his trademark quote – “There is a cure for drowning – and it’s swim lessons.”
Not only does he work with USA Swimming and the USA Swimming Foundation, but he leads 26 YMCA pools in the Orlando Florida area. He’s tireless in his efforts to teach kids to swim, while providing his community with a wide range of aquatic programming and experiences, from swimming lessons, to swimming teams, to Master’s swimming, to diving and synchronized swimming. He is helping people of all ages and abilities get into and enjoy the water. Thank you Rowdy for all that you do!
Adult Performance Camp:
They Came, They Swam,
They Conquered!
October 5-7 saw 20 campers, 5 Olympians and one renown coach come together on the Olympic Training Center campus for 3 jam-packed days of swimming, dryland, nutrition, motivation, and so much more!
Campers learned tips and tricks to improve their swimming from Cal Bears Men's Head Coach Dave Durden and Olympians Nathan Adrian, Elizabeth Beisel, Rowdy Gaines, Chase Kalisz, Ashley Twichell, and Scott Usher all while experiencing what it's like to be an Olympic-caliber athlete. A portion o f each registration serves as a donation to the USA Swimming Foundation, and we thank all the attendees for their support.
