Muezzin for the Week:
Thank you Rayaan from Grade 7 for being our mu’adhhin this week!
Monday Quran Meditation
Muqri'a Hafsa from 8th Grade recited the first ten verses of Sūrat al-Kahf. Ustadh Ismail reminded students that this sūra begins with a declaration that all praise and thanks are due to Allah. While there are many things we can thank Allah for, this sūra reminds us to be thankful for the Quran, which calls us to be upright individuals.
Tuesday Teacher Telling & Wednesday Wonders
Ustadh Ismail reminded students of the importance of musalla manners and students practiced exiting the musalla in an orderly fashion while following instructions. On Wednesday, we learned about the importance of Zuhr prayer and it being the first prayer revealed to the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Students asked questions about the connection between our calculation of time and prayer. We even discussed how the calculation of time affects our calendar and Ramadan. Did you know that in the year 2030, Ramadan will end in January of that year, and the following Ramadan will begin in December of that year?
Thursday Throwbacks
Ustadh Ismail continued the story of Prophet Dawud and Prophet Sulayman as exemplars of Shukr in the Quran. Prophet Dawud was known for always praising Allah, and his collection of praises are known as the Zabur in Arabic, Tehillim in Hebrew, and Psalms in English. Ustadh Ismail played a sample Psalm as recited in Hebrew, and many students realized it sounded like Arabic but was not quite Arabic! They are sister Semitic languages.
Friday Jumu'ah Mubarak
Our khateeb was Br. Awais. He reminded us of the importance of grandparents in our lives, and our duty to honor them. It is important that we are grateful for our grandparents and we should make sure to keep in touch with them. The Prophet Muhammad was a grandfather and his relationship with his grandchildren is an excellent example for all of us!
