"While the start of our school year looks different this year, it was a great celebration to open our doors again to families this Fall! Our impressive, brain-based programs and procedures have been adjusted for the safety of our students and staff while maintaining the core elements that make GPS unique.

Changes this year include: reduced class sizes, limited exposure to other children and teachers outside the core classroom, virtual Home Visits and Back to School nights, smaller groups for meals, postponed field trips, outside and carline drop off and pick up, PPE for staff, a virtual learning plan if needed and increased sanitizing.

Our community is strong and we will face these unprecedented challenges together. Our cooperative approach will provide our students the academics, stability, love and friendships they need to grow. We hope you visit Golden Pond School to discover how we can become a important part of your child's development."

Program Spotlight: The Twos
Young Scramblers
(2 years old by September 30)
Scramblers
(2 years-old by February 28)

The two-year-old Scrambler Program is designed to be an introduction to school and the routine of the classroom with an emphasis on language, Music & Movement, and Art. Through hands-on opportunities, young learners investigate their new and expanding world! Making friends and learning how to be a friend is an important part of the Scrambler Program. We focus on building your child's confidence and sense of independence through classroom routine with the attention of affectionate, supportive teachers. This classroom is referred to as the Monkeys.

The slightly older Scramblers follow the same curriculum as their younger counterparts while also beginning the formal introduction of certain basic Core Knowledge skills, such as following two-step directions, pre-reading and math skills such as: recalling stories, understanding basic patterning and sorting skills, identify colors and shapes, activities that develop name recognition. Potty-trained is not a requirement. This classroom is referred to as the Bunnies.

Full-Day Preschool Enrichment until 6pm is available.

Music & Movement
Specialist

15 Years of Teaching Experience

Music has always been an important part of Tracy's life. From her first job offer at age 5 to play the organ at the grand opening of a local music store to her current role as Music Specialist at GPS. Tracy's enthusiasm is contagious and the children of GPS look forward to their time with her discovering songs, instruments, dance and expression. She helps children create sound by experimenting with a wide variety of hand-held instruments while developing both motor and social skills. Hearing the subtle differences in sound and pitch also increases phonemic awareness which greatly improves early reading skills. Each year students participate in the annual Spring Sing performance at a local high school. This yearly event is a GPS favorite and is sure to impress as classes sing and perform in both English and Spanish.

"Music energizes and brings smiles and laughter to every occasion and injects elements of fun, creativity and collaboration into learning. I feel so lucky to be sharing the children's expression with them and see the sparkle in their eyes!"
