Principal's Letter
Dear Golden View Families and Friends,
What a wonderful year! I can't thank the parents, students, staff and community for everything they have done for our school. A special thanks to the leaders of our three parent support organizations for all of their tremendous work.
The Gator Fund had a phenomenal year. We exceeded our fundraising goals and so are looking forward to purchasing materials for the Science lab. Amy Major and Su Cross have done an outstanding job as Gator Fund co-presidents, and I thank them for their great work on behalf of our school. Amy will be continuing in her role for next year along with our new Co-President, Kimber Monticelli.
Angi Sarina has given so much to Golden View. Angi is the mom of three girls and has given three years of great service to the PTA. Angi will continue in her role next year as PTA president with our fabulous Vice President, Betsy Horvath. I would also like to take a moment to honor former and current executive board members Kathy Barberi, Karen Fletcher and Linda Miller outgoing 5th grade parents who have supported our PTA and have provided tremendous support over the course of the past 5 years.
I would also like to take the time to thank Eran Withana and Julie Comaduran, our Site Council president and Secretary. Eran and Julie took on this job on with no reservations and they have truly run a seamless team this year. We will wish them the best and thank them for all their support!
We also have great parent representatives to School Site Council in place for the coming year. Welcome to Betsy Horvath and Susan Hornbuckle as new reps. Susan Huster and Sasa Janhar will continue for a second term, with Mr. Janhar stepping up as the chair of that council.
It is with a heavy heart we say goodbye to several of our Golden View Gator teachers and staff next year. Please join me in honoring those staff who will not be returning and have touched the lives of many children: teachers Susan Watts, 4th grade, Leslie Adams, 4th grade, Patrice Norris, 4th grade, Kathleen Jacobs, TK, Jennifer Gonzales, 1st grade, Brenda Stutzman, 5th grade, and, Office Manager Dennice Barnes.
To all of you who have been room parents, volunteered in classrooms, driven on field trips, contributed to teacher luncheons, built carnival booths, donated carnival prizes, or given to our school in any one of a thousand different ways, I thank you. This community is unique in the way it comes together to support students and teachers. I hope you realize what a golden treasure you have here, and that you will continue to support your school in such a generous and united way. The parent community and the terrific teaching staff are the roots of our school. I wish you joy in stretching and growing with the branches of new leadership. I expect you to reach new heights!
It has truly been an honor to be your principal.
Sincerely,
Christine

When you walk into her ATP classroom you can feel her energy and the energy of the student as you watch the children interact. The runners received special mileage certificate, created by the Art Contest winner Soham B. (2nd grade), and a final "High Flyer" token.
The best three runners per grade level further received special achievement tokens, and the winners got a gift card for frozen yogurt, curtesy of PTA.
4 runners had perfect attendance, 13 runners missed only one or two meets.

Are you planning on missing the last few weeks of school?
MISSING LAST 10 DAYS OF SCHOOL
Students should be in attendance through the last day of school, June 9, 2016, to maintain their enrollment status at their current school. Independent study contracts will not be issued the last 10 days of school. All independent study contract work must be finished and submitted by May 25, 2016 in order for work to be graded and attendance to be recorded.
If your child must leave school earlier than 10 school days (May 25) before the last day of school and does not return before the end of the school year, your child may be subject to the following consequences:
* Incomplete or lowered final grades
* Review by school/district attendance review board
* Unenrolled and placed on the waitlist upon re-enrollment, if space is not available.
If your student is unenrolled, there may not be a space at the current school for your student to return in the fall. In this case your student may have to be diverted to another elementary school in the district. Middle and High school students may not be able to access their elective choices if they reenroll upon their return.
Please note:
In accordance with California Education Codes 48205 and 48260, and District Board Policy and Administrative Regulation 5113, any student who misses 3 or more school days without a valid excuse, as defined by AR 5113, shall be reported as truant to the District attendance supervisor.
MISSING THE FIRST 3 DAYS OF SCHOOL 16/17
As you plan your summer vacation, be aware that school begins on Monday, August 15, 2016. Because our district is growing, schools are very full and many continue to have wait lists.
* As in the past, if your child does not attend the first three days of school, your student will be dropped from the school on Thursday, August 18, 2016.
In that event, you will need to re-enroll your student. A space at your resident school will not be held for your child. If there is not space at your resident school when you return, your child will be placed at the closest school based on space availability.
