Healthy Housing -- Was Your Home Built Before 1940?

As part of Golden’s commitment to Healthy Housing, Golden will be investigating and inventorying drinking water service line material in homes built before 1940. If your home was built before 1940, the City would like your participation.

Golden Water staff are working with our contractor, Five Star Energy Services, to get started on service line investigations. If lead or galvanized plumbing material previously downstream of lead is discovered, Golden will replace the property's water service line at no cost to the property owner or resident.

To speak with city staff about this project, please contact Les Major at lmajor@cityofgolden.net or 303-384-8170.

Understanding Mental Health: Signs, Symptoms and Tools

Topics: stress, anxiety, depression, self-care

There is a lot of talk about mental health and how important it is, but what does that actually mean? Mental health describes our emotional, psychological, and social well-being. It affects how we think, feel, and act, how we handle stress, relate to others, and make choices. During this presentation, you will learn the basics of mental health, the signs and symptoms of mental health disorders, and how to practice good mental health and connect to care.

The presentation will be an hour long followed by a conversation providing available resources and listening to community needs to help plan future mental health activities.

Sandwiches and chips will be provided.

18th Snow Event of the Season

On Sunday evening, March 24, our city experienced its 18th snow event, beginning at around 6:00 p.m. Initially starting as rain, it swiftly transitioned to snow by 7:00 p.m. The initial snow melted upon contact with the pavement during the first two hours. Our response teams sprang into action, dispatching trucks at 11:00 p.m. to tackle the accumulating snowfall, a task that continued through the night through 1 p.m. on Monday afternoon. Accumulating approximately 4 inches of snow, accompanied by temperatures dipping into the teens, the streets teams worked to plow and de-ice a total of 705 miles of road. In the process, they applied 18.25 tons of deicer, averaging 51.77 lbs. per lane mile.

Don’t forget to save the PlowOps Portal on your phone and desktop so you can follow along with our snow removal progress live during snowstorms!
