Linking Lookout (US 6 & 19th St. Interchange)

We continue to have calls with concerns about a right turn lane from eastbound 19th to eastbound US 6. There will be a turn lane in the final configuration, but it will not be a continuous lane that merges on the ramp. We have watched peak hour traffic and haven't seen a queue of more than 4 cars, and delays less than 20 seconds. In fact the average delay has been more like 3 seconds. There is no plan to make a change beyond the turning lane shown in the plans at this time.

There will be lane closures on mainline US 6 east and west the next two weeks for landscape work in the median.

Grading for 19th as it approaches US 6 continues, and detour paving for eastbound 19th traffic was completed last Friday. This is the future median area that is now a temporary detour. The connection from the westbound ramp will be moved to the west when the short connection paving is completed. Then the remaining old 19th asphalt will be removed. There will still be a no-left-turn connection so westbound 19th traffic will still need to make a U-turn at Elm.

Work at the westbound off-ramp at 19th is proceeding, but it is very tight in this area so please be careful.

There will be milling, and top-lift paving on US 6 starting early next week.

Pedestrians are now using the final trail across the lid, but pay attention when you drive, walk or ride through the area -- there is landscape activity all around.

There is a construction viewing area in the northwest corner that can be accessed from Parfet Estates Drive, and is an excellent location to view ongoing work. Please park legally.

Partial Clear Creek Trail closure Wednesday, Aug. 16

A portion of Clear Creek Trail that runs behind the Golden Visitors Center and the Golden Fire Station will be closed starting tomorrow morning, August 16 and will remain closed for around 24 hours. Detours will be in place so the inconvenience should be minimal.

Crews need to replace stones that were undermined by high creek waters overtopping the sidewalk.

Around Town
Should Golden offer Broadband? Two more weeks to take our survey!

Based on feedback from several residents and businesses, the City of Golden is looking into the potential deployment of gigabit broadband throughout the community. The City believes that affordable high quality broadband is a critical service for quality of life in Golden, as is the case with roads, water, sewer, and electricity.

To determine whether or not the City should offer broadband services, the City is conducting  both a residential and a business Survey of Broadband Services. The survey was prepared by the City of Golden Broadband Task Force. The Broadband Task Force was formed shortly after the passage of the ballot initiative exempting the City from the constraints of Senate Bill 152. The Task Force consists of citizens of Golden with a range of technical and professional backgrounds.

The Residential Survey should only be completed if you are a resident within Golden city limits (not sure? Check the Jefferson County Address Wizard). The Business Survey should only be completed if your Business location is within Golden city limits.
Your input as a citizen of and/or a business within Golden is a very important component to the City's understanding of Broadband Services currently being provided. Your response will take only a few minutes and responses are anonymous. The survey will close on August 31.
Celebration of the Life of John Tracy Memorial Services

John Tracy Memorial Service
The public is invited to celebrate the life and memory of one of Golden's most notable residents.  John Tracy worked for the Golden Transcript for 30 years until his death on Aug. 1, caused by a variety of health problems.

Tracy was involved in many facets of the Golden community. His considerable contributions were recognized by groups such as the Golden Rotary Club and Golden Chamber of Commerce. Additionally, he was named a Living Landmark by the Golden Landmarks Association in 2011 and was grand marshal in the Buffalo Bill Days parade last year.

The memorial service will take place on August 16 at 10 a.m. at the CSM Green Center.
