Public Input Opportunities for the City's New Comprehensive Plan

The City's new Comprehensive Plan is coming, and we want your input!

A Comprehensive Plan is a policy document that guides long-term decisions for the City, covering land-use decisions like rezoning, infrastructure investments, and programming choices. It lays the foundation for future zoning codes, which then turn the plan into reality.

There are many opportunities for public feedback in the coming months. We look forward to seeing you at one of the following events:

  • Wednesday, October 16, 10:30-11:30 a.m. -- Miners Alley Performing Arts Center (1100 Miners Alley)
  • Friday, October 18, 2-4 p.m. -- Go Farm Mobile Market (17801 W. Colfax Ave.)
  • Wednesday, October 23, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. -- CSM, Maple plaza
  • Monday, October 28, 5:30-7:00 p.m., -- Golden Fire Station No. 24 (151 Heritage Rd.)

There will be additional opportunities in November and December, stay tuned for details! Learn more about the Comprehensive Plan on the Guiding Golden page.

The Downtown Welcome Arch is Getting a Fresh Coat of Paint

Heads up! The iconic downtown arch will undergo a fresh repaint this week, featuring a vibrant new gold and brown color scheme that revitalizes its classic look. The last time the arch was painted was over 20 years ago! During the project, Washington Avenue will be reduced to one lane between 11th and 12th Streets, with flaggers directing traffic to ensure a smooth flow.

Universal Recycling Ordinance Public Survey

The City of Golden is considering a Universal Recycling Ordinance (URO), similar to those in Denver, Boulder, and other nearby cities. This ordinance would require waste haulers to offer recycling services to all residential and commercial buildings in Golden. It aims to boost our waste diversion rate, which was 40% at the end of 2023, with a goal of reaching 80% by 2030.

We want your input! Take the survey below by October 14 for a chance to win a $300 gift basket from local businesses.

Let’s shape the future of recycling in Golden together! Take the survey today.
