Goldensun Members Give Back

Many of our Goldensun members enjoy participating in opportunities where they can give back to the community. One of our staff has a connection to Grace and Mercy Homeless Ministries, an organization providing food, shelter, clothing and guidance to homeless persons in the Phoenix area. Our members were able to participate in a monthly event at St. Vincent DePaul, assisting with giving out food and supplies to homeless persons in need.

Speaking of Giving, it's almost time for #GivingTuesday! Celebrated on the Tuesday following Thanksgiving and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday kicks off the charitable season, when many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Since 2012, #GivingTuesday has become a movement that celebrates and supports the act of giving! Goldensun will again be participating in this annual day of giving. Last year we raised over $23,000, and this year we hope to surpass that goal! Donations directly impact our members through continuing to provide them with a beautiful, safe and affordable place to call home, providing safe transportation to and from day programs and activities and through continuing programs to increase independence and quality of life. This past month our members enjoyed many opportunities to spend time with old friends and meet some new friends!

Goldensun Dolphins Swim Again!

After many hours of practice this summer, our Goldensun Dolphins participated in their first Special Olympics swim meet this season. They did a great job, demonstrated by the multiple medals and ribbons won! A special thank you to coaches Rhonda Shadley and Aaron Gouldthorpe for volunteering their time for weekly practice and encouraging our members to do their best! The team will be heading to the State Special Olympics meet October 12 and 13. Congratulations Dolphins!

Matthew has been serving with Goldensun since August of 2017. Matthew's positive energy and generous spirit are appreciated by everyone at Goldensun. He can often be seen giving "high fives" to members and making everyone around him laugh and smile. Matthew states that he enjoys working at Goldensun because of the great interactions he has with Goldensun members and his co-workers. He appreciates that Goldensun is a place that provides freedom for adults with developmental disabilities. Thank you Matthew for your service to the Goldensun Community!
