The Blackhawk Museum was a glow on March 29 for the 8th annual Yours Humanly Gift of Schooling Gala, our signature fundraiser, presented by Law Offices of James A. Bach. More than 200 people enjoyed cocktails, dinner, silent and live auctions, live entertainment, rousing fundraising games, and dancing into the late evening. In keeping with this year’s theme, Celebrating Our Multicultural Connections, many attendees dressed in formal attire representing a variety of countries and cultures, and the Rohan Murphy Irish Dance Academy and LIKHA Pilipino Folk Ensemble delighted us with extraordinary dance performances. Emcee Alex Savidge, KTVU Ch. 2, handled the evening’s agenda with ease and good humor; we announced Adonal Foyle, Kerosene Lamp Foundation, as our 2025 Leading With the Heart Honoree; and guest speaker Kimberly Warren, Miss California, spoke about the importance of art in the lives of children in need. In March 2023, the City of Concord, California, generously granted Yours Humanly $213,000 to fund a comprehensive two-year Family Literacy Night project (Fall 2023–Spring 2025) designed to promote early literacy and family engagement, and to help improve reading proficiency among young students. Time has flown by and we have now completed 20 literacy projects in 10 Concord elementary schools, benefitting more than 4,000 students served by Mount Diablo Unified School District. We used the funds to purchase and distribute more than 19,000 English-language and bilingual books, with more than 200 titles, for students to keep as their own and to fill classroom libraries. We also hosted two on-campus Family Literacy Night events per school that included literacy-themed games, arts & crafts, reading corners, book giveaways, and a light buffet meal. Yours Humanly is pleased to debut a new video that highlights Yours Humanly’s work the past 12 years on behalf of children in need. The narrative and imagery illustrate the impact your support has had on thousands of children around the world. First screened at our 2025 Gift of Schooling Gala, the video is now viewable on our website and YouTube channel.

Yours Humanly is thrilled to announce Adonal Foyle, former professional basketball player with the Golden State Warriors and Orlando Magic, as our 2025 Leading With the Heart Honoree. We are recognizing Mr. Foyle for his extraordinary work with the Kerosene Lamp Foundation, the nonprofit he founded in 2003 that focuses on youth development, education, and positive play. The Kerosene Lamp Foundation has enhanced the lives of more than 52,000 underserved children in the Caribbean and United States. 

The Yours Humanly Leading With the Heart Award recognizes individuals and organizations for their vision and leadership on behalf of children and youth.

We are pleased to announce the most recent 2025 recipient of our Yours Humanly Children Have the Power to Empower® Award, which recognizes children between the ages of 6 and 17 for their outstanding acts of goodness that make a significant difference in the lives of others.

Sahana received the Children Have the Power to Empower® Award for the outstanding acts of goodness she performs through the nonprofit she founded, Young Learners Foundation, and her Book Drive Initiative, which has collected and distributed more than 2,500 books (with a value of more than $20,000) to young people in need in the United States and around the world.

Congratulations to Sahana Srikanth, who joins 44 other amazing young people we’ve recognized for their outstanding acts of goodness.
