Golf Cart Clarifications
It has come to our attention after our previous DeBuzz Email Newsletter that a few points regarding golf cart guidelines needed some extra clarification. We thank anyone who has reached out with any inquiries since receiving the last edition of DeBuzz, and we hope to further clarify with the below points.

  • Golf carts are not required to have seatbelts. However, LSVs MUST include seatbelts to be street-legal.
  • At this present moment in time there are no points at which crossing HWY 17-92 (AKA Charles Richard Beall Boulevard) is permitted in a golf cart. The City is working with the FDOT to establish designated crossing points on HWY 17/92. These crossings will be announced once officially approved by FDOT. However, even once crossings are approved, at no time will golf carts or LSVs be allowed to drive on the sidewalks of 17-92 as it is a federal highway. Golf carts will need to cross at these designated spots and continue down City roads or sidewalks (Depending on the classification of the particular City street. Please reference the graphics below for a reminder of this information).
  • Golf carts are required to be covered by their own insurance policy. You may not present your automobile insurance cards when applying for a golf cart permit. Golf carts must be covered separately and have $10,000 in personal injury and $10,000 in property damage in their policy. Proof of this must be submitted at the time of registration and renewal.
