In cooperation with EDGA, the National Alliance for Accessible Golf is pleased to now offer "Learning from the Edges - Changing Lives Through the Power of Golf" via the Alliance Education Hub. Per EDGA, "This program aims to provide coaches with insights that will enable them to optimize a golfer's function, whilst considering their limitations, impairments, or disability."

Dave Barton, PGA, Alliance Executive Director relays, "Learning from the Edges is THE place anyone interested in becoming an adaptive golf coach should begin their journey along with those who are looking to expand their knowledge beyond the types of impairments they may be working with now. This introductory program provides a solid foundation across numerous impairments that both golf coaches and therapeutic professionals will benefit from greatly."

Increasing the participation of individuals with disabilities in the game of golf requires more qualified coaches and programs across the full range of demographics and impairments. This self-paced instructional series provides a foundation of knowledge that will directly contribute to that effort and the Alliance is pleased to endorse and share this material on behalf of the EDGA.

The event was held July 8-10 and featured the world’s best individuals with different abilities competing in a major championship.

My father attended the championship with me — a first. It was about as good as it gets in terms of walking the course with him for three days, watching him interact with the players and learning about their personal stories. During practice rounds, he walked up to a seated player hitting balls at the driving range and learned the player had been a high school athlete until being paralyzed from a skiing accident. It changed the trajectory of this player’s life. The game of golf renewed his spirit and gave him the drive to move forward. Read More

Over the last 25 years, sparked by the Tiger Woods phenomenon, the golf industry’s leading associations made significant strides in making facilities and businesses more accessible and inclusive.

The First Tee and National Alliance for Accessible Golf are just two initiatives/

organizations reflective of the progress being made.

Nevertheless, there is still a lot of work to be done to make the game and

business even more welcoming and representative of society today. One area

of golf-related access that needs to be vastly improved going forward, according

to Alliance Executive Director Dave Barton, is not necessarily facilities themselves, but the virtual world of golf – namely websites. Read More
