Impact Fix

Many players have a misconception of where both the body and the club need to be at impact. Club and body positions are important because they allow players to create power and make much better ball contact. An excellent way to make sure that your positions are correct is by using the "impact fix" to create the proper feel. There are two positions for both the body and the club in an impact fix. They are: Body Hips turned. Weight left. Club Shaft leaning forward. Arms rotated so the face is square. This is a very powerful pre swing technique that I have seen many players improve with. Matt Wolff

Matt Wolff is one of the most talented players to arrive on the PGA Tour for quite some time. He hits the ball straight with great distance, his iron play is superb and he has a great short game. Many of my students have commented on his swing. The two things of note are how he starts his swing and the big loop that the club travels on. The start of the swing is the impact fix with the lower body that I described in the instruction video above. This serves as a reminder of where Matt would like to be with his body at impact and also kick starts his swing with this body movement. It is unusual but sound. I feel that he is really a player to watch in the future.

When To Use Rain Gloves In San Diego

We have had a long hot summer in San Diego. It is easy to perspire when practicing on the range as a result. One piece of advice that I have given to a few students was to use a rain glove as opposed to a leather glove in this instance. Rain gloves work better as they get wetter. Give this a try if you think that this may help you.

Student Of The Month

My student of the month for October is Gene Walsh. Gene recently qualified for the California Senior Amateur Championship. It is going to be played at Pebble Beach November 9th through the 11th. Congratulations Gene! Hope you have a great tournament.
