SAINTS PETER & PAUL SCHOOL
GOLF OUTING UPDATE
The 32nd annual Golf Outing to benefit Financial Aid at Saints Peter and Paul School is little more than 3 weeks away. Since its inception in 1989, all proceeds from this event are used by our pastor to assist families struggling to afford a Catholic education for their children.
While the number of rounds of golf being played on public and private courses have increased dramatically this summer compared to a year ago, the committee wanted to ensure that proper safety measures at Cress Creek are in place to ensure that all participants will enjoy the afternoon completely.

Thus, at their meeting last week, the golf committee, in the interest of safety, agreed on the following modifications from our traditional offerings:

  • Registration, lunch, a two-hour cocktail hour, and dinner will all be offered outdoors.

  • Should the weather force dinner to be served inside, the banquet and catering chair at CC guarantees they can accommodate patrons within the guidelines of proper social distancing.
One of the popular events of recent outings has been Beat the Nun in 2018 and Beat the Priest last year with Fr. Chris. As Fr. Lankford is now pastor of St. John the Baptist Parish (Winfield), we are pleased to announce that Sr. Mary Ann Dosen has agreed to return and challenge our participants.

“Sister was unbelievable,” recalled committee co-chair Scott Enke. “We told her to hit from the women’s tee but she insisted in hitting from the same tee box as everyone else,” he added, "and was very impressive.”

Another change impacts the traditional live auction following dinner. Instead, golfers can bid on an assortment of interesting items throughout their round of golf.

While we don’t have any sports tickets to offer, we are trying to procure rounds of golf at places like Rich Harvest, Olympia Fields, and Hinsdale.

The committee is also planning on raffling off a basket of dinner certificates, adult beverages, lottery tickets, and school spirit wear.

The deadline to sign up is Wednesday, September 3, as we need to provide Cress Creek with a hard count of participants so they can make sure they have a proper number of carts, beverages, and food for everyone.

When our school was founded in 1853...
